NOTE: If you don't agree with what I say about these games for one reason or another, you can voice opinions as long as flaming is minimal.

God Hand: Argueably one of the finest beat'em ups out there. The attacks and combos are BRUTAL, the camera is manageable, and the story is actually half-way decent. It's also HARD. Not Ninja Gaiden hard, but still HARD.

Final Fantasy 12: Quite possibly the best in the FF series. The Gambit system is great, the graphics are stunning, the characters are all mostly likeable, the real time battles rule, and the story's pretty good, if a little bland in some areas.

These are just two of the games I have. May add more eventually.

Well, God Hand was not really my type of game and FFXII was ok but I'm still in love of Tidus, Yuna and company.

The characters are far from mostly likeable. Balthier is the only interesting one, Basch has the most unrealised potential. Vaan the main character played a mostly silent role with thr occasional useless quip, worst main I have seen in ANY RPG. Other characters were there to fill spaces, Penelo was useless, period. Fran was barely explored and Ash had some unexplored potential too.

Do you honestly think you will remember Vayne a few years down the line? We can recall the names of past FF villains very easily, but FF didnt even have a good one.

The story was very bland and not what I would call deep, FF presented more thought provoking stories before. One thing to the plot's credit is it maturity, shame about the content being skin deep.

Meh, that's your opinion.

Though I WILL admit Vayne was a pretty 'meh' villain, the thing I really liked about him was his ultra cool Undying form. :/

final fantasy 12 was not best in the series, it was far from it. the story could of been alot better like give the main character more of a reason to be in the story rather then then one they gave vaan. i liked the FF series because of the story in the games. The only good things were the graphics and the real time battle system they put in this time around.

I said I'd include more games in my list, and here they are.

Dragon Quest 8: THIS. GAME. ROCKS! This is quite possibly one of the BEST RPGs out there. Amazing story, great voice acting, awesome graphic/monster designs, and the alchemy system was pure awesome.

Dark Cloud 2: This was such an improvement over DC1, it's not even funny. Much better story, NO FREAKING WATER SYSTEM, the randomized dungeons were MUCH easier to handle, broken weapons were no longer gone forever, the combat was immensly improved, and most of all, the characters weren't cardboard cutout style.

Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana: With an interesting story, a cute presentation, good voice acting and easy to pick up gameplay, this is definatly a solid RPG.

....In case it's not obvious, I'm an RPG nut.

i really enjoyed god hand. it's a throwback to the good old days of streets of rage and final fight, also loved the over the top crazy story and characters. FFXII is an outstanding game, but the story didn't appeal to me as much as in other instalments

I agree with you on DQ8, DC2 and AI:EM. DQ8 was a great throwback to RPGs of old with superb art, good soundtrack and best of all... Yangus! DC2 is a gem and Level 5 are masters at what they do, looking forward to reading about their PS3 RPG. AI:EM is cute and easy to pick up but I found combat to be immensely boring, I didnt beat the game but maybe I should, I was half way through (3 years ago!).

You are not the only but around here! :P

Glad to hear it.

Anyways, here's another game...or should I say, game SERIES?

The Wild Arms series: If DQ8 is one of the best ps2 RPGs, the Wild Arms series is second best. I've played WA1, 2, 3 and Alter Code F, and they all rock. The stories are always well thought out and engaging, the characters are likeable (Jet from WA3, Rudy from WA1, etc), the music and battles are awesome and the villains are always just plain badass (Janus and Zeikfried ftw)

It's really a great Beat'em up and it's challenging but not frustrating to me. I cant fully understand why ign gave it 3.0...

From what I know, it was mainly because it was too hard.

....I honestly can't believe it.

God Hand might have been a cool game... if it wasn't incomplete. I still can't believe that Capcom released a game in that condition with their name, and Clover's name, printed on it.
