I thought The Warriors was pretty good. The last 2 Lord of the Rings games weren't bad. And James Bond: Everything or Nothing is quite good, it's obviously based on the franchise, though not any specific 007 movie.
The Star Wars: Battlefront games are fairly decent also, although I played them on the PC, not the PS2. If we bring all platforms into this, then the SW franchise wins hands-down by virtue of the old X-Wing and TIE Fighter games on the PC.
I wouldn't say they're all rubbish, just average games. The problem is that usually the games are really short (that's because they're based on a 2hr. film), wannabe copycats of other games, and not developed any major developer. I thought Batman Begins was okay for a rental, Shrek 2 was surprisingly fun. The lotr games weren't fun at all - nice graphics though.
Mortal Kombat the game came long before the movie. I like Godfather (the game) for PS2. I have a soft spot for the movies, so it makes sense that I would like the game since it was essentially GTAIII in that milieu.
