Well i absolutely loved ICO and just purchased SOTC hoping it can live up to its older brother. so how does okami compare to these?

I imagine the combat system is shallow and easy since the game's focus lies in story telling and atmosphere.

Okami is better than Ico and SOTC combined. It is one of the coolest, and most beautiful games I have ever played. It also has one of the best storylines I have played.

Okami reminded me of Wind Waker, but on the PS2 with shallower combat. If you want something that is different, or just want to complete your Clover collection then definitely get it.

Okami is many things.....the games combat is relatively simple, but thats the only (negative) point i could come up with. Other than that the game is almost perfect.

Since you asked .....YES YOU MUST HAVE THIS GAME. if you liked ICO and SHADOW OF THE COLOSUS and had the attention span necesary to complete them than this game is for you brother.

GO and buy it...and if you dont like it ill send you your money back .....(NOT)....but you will like the game I guarantee it.

Okami is one of those games that will be remembered as great things. Get it. You wont be dissapointed, since as ICO and SOTC, its a beatifully designed game that may lack in combat but excels at all the other things. The game is about a Japanese legend (Yamata no Orochi). As some new stuff you will have the brush to magically create things as you learn new techniques. In my opinion a 9 was not enough as a score, and should have deserved a 9.5/9.6. Taking into consideration that games as shallow as Gears got it. Okami pushes the PS2 hardware to its limits and the sweet "ink paiting" artistic style of the whole game makes it an eye candy.

In my opinion its a must buy and you should get it now, or at least rent it to see what it is about, since its not a game for everyone.

if your a fan of the legend of zelda, you might want to pick this game up as soon as possible. I would cosider this an above average game, and the only problem i found was the difficulty. This game is very easy, and the battle system is only skin deep. The story is incredible, the art style is incredible, and the "brush techniques" were very innovative, and i thought flowed very well with the game and did not hinder gameplay whatsoever. Again, this game is very similar to the legend of zelda, and not so much ICO or Shadow of the colossus, but even so...this game is worth checking out, even if you dont buy it.

How is okami's combat more shallow than any other action rpg?? Okami is a great adventure and I WOULD call it a must own but there is nothing to do once you beat it. It has a great story, great graphics, great sound, and the brush stroke thing is unique and fun. I think ico and sotc are crap and anything would be better than those games so you should LOVE okami hehehe.

Must have or just good? well that's a matter of opinion really...but imo it's a must have, you can't really compare it to games like SotC and ICO though...apart from in that they're extremely good names...okami has a rather unique graphical style, and it's very well done; it's got a good length (probably 40-60+ hours for the 1st playthrough depending on how much you get, and still a good 20hours on subsequent playthroughs even if you dnt get much..), a nice amount of extras (though it's completely possible to get them all in your 1st playthrough if you try - just means that playthrough will last longer than the standard 40hours), and a suitable difficulty for everyone (the items make it much easier, but it's perfectly possible to do everything without using them if you want it to be a bit more of a challenge - even if it's only the later of the super strong enemies in the bandit spider caves that are a real challenge..), the celestial brush is also a very unique way of fighting, and adds a little bit of depth to an otherwise extremely simple combat system

okami is a must have, a sure 9.8. The fact that the combat is simple is more then made up for by the mentally challenging boss battles in which you have to use your celestial brush. Definitely play it without a guide which would ruin da challenge. It is on a par with SOTC. 9.8/10
