Hello,

I was wondering if it's worth getting the silver version of the Playstation Slimline, I'm not sure if it would be worth it to be honest. Is it anything special or would it just be worth getting the simple black version of the PS2?

Does the silver version look good quality?

Ok, not as many questions as I thought I might have had! but tell me if you have the black or Silver version and tell me what you think of it.

Thanks!

There's no difference in the console, just the colour. To be honest I prefer the black one; I've got a vertical stand with a cool blue LED light on the stand thats glows while you play it looks sweet, plus everything else in my room like my TV for eg is black. It's all about preference.

This really is just a matter of personal taste and preference, since they're essentially identical aside from the color. Bit like deciding what color you'd prefer in a new car -- it's just superficial, but important that you pick the one you prefer.

When I got a new slim a couple of months ago, I went for the silver. The silver slim only became available here in the states at the end of last year, and it is a limited-production style here, so I figured if I ever wanted one, now was the time. But obviously there in the UK that's not an issue. Also, my trusty old fat model is black, so I figured a bit of variety wouldn't hurt. As to quality of finish, yes, the silver is lovely -- it's good quality, with a flawless satin finish on the console and controller. Very sleek and sexy, and the lighter tone makes it easy to see in low light for opening the flip top and changing discs. I like the silver, but the traditional matte black is fine as well, so just go with whatever you like best yourself.

In one week, I am going forth to Wally World and picking up a silver one. I was surprised to find it there. The only places I have found it so far were online. Reasons for getting it: 1. Limited edition. Who knows, in a few years it might be worrth something. 2. This machine is the latest iteration Sony has put out on the PS2.

Go with Black, I am always hesitant to buy coloured plastic as it may get chipped or scratched and show the colour below.

I've got the fat silver PS2, have had it for two years. I bought it coz i thought it looked cool, which it did, and i wanted something different from what my friends had (all of them have black PS2s). About the silver paint coming off, on the console unit thats a minor problem, but on the controller its a bit more visible. Given that I've been using the same controller for over two years, its hardly surprising that the paint on the grips has faded away, leaving white areas. The console unit still looks "fresh", with no white areas. Overall, as everyone else has said, its simply a matter of preference. I'm happy with silver.

I've got the black slimline because well, to me, PS2's are just supposed to be black. In the end it's whatever you prefer.

Cool thanks for the replies, I currently have a white Nintendo Wii and a white 360 with Union Jack faceplate on my desk. The black is about £10 cheaper over here in the UK, but I also have a problem with losing things. Just this moment I couldn't find my Black tv controller and it was right in front of me currently sitting on a big black PS2 I'm fixing.... Black is easy to lose things on. My only worriy with the silver is seeing paint tear off.... I do like white though, why can't there be a white version :-) I have a White PSP, DS, 360 and Wii....
