Previous Silent Hill Knowledge

Its better to start from the first one on PS1, but maybe its hard to find and you wont find it that cool, since the graphics are pretty old, I enjoy it no matter the oldness.

The second is a side story so you can play it with cero knowledge, its a cool game but SH3 its the game! the third is the best in ps2 but its strongly related to the first, so if you planning on play it, I suggest you to read the plot sinopsis or something there are quite a few here in gamespot, so you have a little understanding of whats going on.

Sillent Hill is a good franquise, but if you are looking for some good horror games I totally suggest Fatal Frame franquise.

the original silent hill is hands down the best one. SH2 is hands down the second best. SH3 and SH4 were pretty good but not many of the "hardcore" fans liked them as much as SH2.

Hahaha...u need to start from SH1 BUT..........u will never find 1 in EB or 2,3 neither.....they are RAREEEEE.......SH4 u will find it...

Man im big fan.......for SH1 and 2 i where SPECIAL in Italy to buy these games.....lol.......( im not american...i live in europe....but i spent 2 nights till italy...so 3 days till i searched every shop for that....found them english version and new condition.......last stock).......goood luck in finding the games.........well if u need second hand SH u will find everywhere........the old schrached finger print stuff lol.......... Second hand sucks.....and........never trust ebay if it says NEW...lol

I'm looking at EBgames.com and 2-4 are in stock. Maybe not overseas, but I think in north america you can find these no problem. 1 is on amazon, at about $45, which isn't too bad I guess.

1 is my favorite of the series, and 2 then 3 and I haven't played 4. :) I think every fan will have a "moment" in SH that really freaked them out. For me its the locker rooms in the elementary school of SH1 and the hospital elevator in SH2 omfg. I really do loves these games too.

If you can't get 1, don't worry too much there are a ton of spoiler websites and theory websites out there to explain the plot and you can move right along to #2. But, only do that if you can't find 1 because its really fun/scary to play and you would enjoy it.

The comment about not finding the first game in a resale shop is pretty true... although I was in a GameStop the other day and a kid brought in that uber-rare Marvel vs. Capcom fighter for the XB... the guy behind the counter asked the kid four times if he REALLY wanted to trade it in (the game goes for hundreds on eBay I guess) and after the kid made the trade, the guy told him what it was worth...

That was one sad lil' guy, tell-you-what.

It's possible, but not probable that you can find a copy of the PS1 game... what ever happened to that re-issue or redux like ResEvil they were going to do, I wonder? Anyway, happy hunting.

Inorder for you to understand Silent Hill3 story you have to play silent hill 1 on the playstation one. But for other silent hill games there'sa refrence in silen hill4 for silent hill2 but it wouldn't matter if you skipped 2 and played four since they're different story-wise.

SH1 was the best for me....didn't care if it was for PS1 but it was the scariest of all........Any1 saw SH5 10 min Gameplay and Akira Yamaoka Intwerview to SH5>???.......because i did :P

Silent Hill 5 will rock...............
