Because their corrupt.

Do you happen to be using a third-party memory card? Those are crap.

Because they're crap. :D

But if you're using official Sony-manufactured memory cards, then they shouldn't get corrupted.

I'm using an official first-party memory card, and it's working fine. So unfortunately, I don't know how to help you. You should just get a new memory card, because if it's corrupt now, it will be corrupt in the future too.

hmm did you do anything to it while it was saving?, i've heard of power surges (if the ps2 is left on) sometimes can corupt data, but rarely, and that would explain why u can't delete, it fried all that part of the memory card, or like the others say, 3rd party cards will screw up for absolutely no reason at all

did you pull out the memory card while the game was saving? or did you turn off the system while you were saving? that could be part of it if you did

I forget what software it is(Action Replay?), but there's one that will allow you to reformat the MC and erase the corrupted data. Just make sure you copy the other saves that are in tact to another MC, since reformatting it will wipe out all saves on it.
