I don't know why but it strikes me kind of strange you've already gotten him a DS and now are considering a ps2 as well- I almost think getting both at the same time will make each one seem less special...overall though i don't know what would be wrong with getting a ps2 (other than what i mentioned) but the ps2 itself like you said has alot of good cheap games to get. mtburdell
He plays with his big sister's DS (when she lets him). The screen burn out on his Gameboy Advanced this summer (it was a "hand me down" from his sister). He uses the Gameboy in the car on road trips (we do a lt of camping) and he is allowed to take it in to school one day a week during the coldwinter months on "personal electronics" day (they get to play Gameboy, PSP, Leapster, etc. on recess).
As stated previously,we own a Gamecube (we are on our 3rd system in 6 years - the first one was his sister's and the last two were used from Gamestop). I recently discovered that Nintendo stoppedmaking new games for Gamecube. I was planning on buying him some new games for Xmas. I can buy new "old stock" games on Ebay, but the selection is limited compared to PS2. If I buy a PS2, I can buy it as a "family gift" and buy a few games for my son and a few games my 11 year old daughter will like (she would love Singstar or Guitar Hero).
Please understand, my son is happy with his Gamecube, I feel bad because I can't buy him newer game titles.
