Do you think PS2 was the break-through the gaming industry needed? No company got it right, do you think without the ps2 there wouldnt be any hope for consoles? After all, xbox did develop since it was losing money in computer video games since ps2 was doing so crzy.

What are you talking about? The original NES in the 80's made video games a phenomenon. Not to mention the Atari 2600...

That was back in the days and those didnt last as close as the ps2 is lasting. 2-3 years ago before the ps2 there was nothing to play, nothing came besides the crap Dreamcast!!

Sorry to disagree. There was plenty of consoles that made money and has of shelf life of over 3 years. Sega Master System, Atariand Nintendo are a few. You have to also understand the time. Techonology advances as does the games.

Being an owner of almost all the major consoles in existence, (dating back to the 2600days) i'd say that Sony did play a huge role in bringing new genre's of gamers to the table, and keeping already established fans playing in a quality light. The ability of having a dvd/game experience was huge at that time, and they capitalized on it.. not only in a polished way.. but they also had the momentum carrying in from the ps1 era. Whether it be exclusive rights, quality established1st party and2nd party vendors.. they had itmapped from the start of the ps1era, and so the inclusion of the dvd media and feel just made it that more robust. Did it save gaming in general? I'd say no. It surely helped pave the way for many great games, and a guideline for companies to follow, but eventually something would have been done to solidify games as we see them now. In the time fashion as a great exampleof thatgeneration, and what itwas looking for at that particular time.. they nailed it on the dot.

But like any other company that is successful for a long time, they got cocky with the PS3. Did you read the report about them begging developers to be patient? My loyalty can only go so far, my intelligence prevents me from shelling the prices they were asking for previously. After this price drop, assuming a good line-up comes up, they are on the ball, or getting there at least.

Ypu have to be on crack to call the Dreamcast crap. That machine delivered the best games of the time. For a machine that lasted a few years, it gave lots of wonderful games. People were prefering the DC over the launch PS2.
