Yep, same sentiments here, the ps2 is going extinct , losing out to more interactive game machines like the Wii,( by the way, I have a Wii and it's a lot of fun !) The graphics on the PS2 can't beat the next generation of consoles and portability like the psp and nintendo, gameboy etc....

I would just copy the great games on ps3 and put them on ps2 but with much less graphics and features.And maybe they should make a new ps2 model which can read Blu-Ray and have less advanced eternal memory and a less advanced SIX-axis controller.I mean like a cheap Lesser Ps3 for those who want a cheap yet great cosole,:D

What? The PSP is basically a low-res, toned-down PS2. The DS is essentially a handheld N64. So I don't understand how you can compare the handhelds to the PS2.
As for games, there's still games coming out for it. Sure most of them are Wii or PSP ports, but publishers are still supporting.
Game production is steadily coming to an end, you can tell just by looking at the upcoming lineup, its time for a ps3 anyways but not at this time. Maybe April 2008 for me.
So what if there's a new stupid model coming out next year. Its just a revised slim with no more brick. Big freaking deal. Expanding my ass, there is practically nothing noteworthy about this console. Most games you care about are moving to the next console. God you've had seven years with this thing. . .

Not for me... I have, at least, 30 more good games to play... by that time (I think By the end of next year) I'll go buy a 360 or a PS3. For now, a good PC (I have one), anda PS2 is all thatI need...

LOL, I actually didn't mind M$ pulling the plug. As soon as they did all of those 50, 30, and 20 dollar games went into the five dollar bin. Five games for 20 bucks, as a consumer I have no problem with that at all.
But yeah PS2, is dying as it should. Sony is trying to push the PS3, they made there money on the PS2 it's time for them to move on.
i think sony coorporation must be more patience with ps2, i think for asia religion the PS3 prise is to exspensive, in dollar the ps2 prise about $200, and ps3 $450 untill $470, with the employee got about $100/month, so for buy the console we must think twice, i hope ps2 still got the new game with best quality from game developer :), let's hope ps2 can life until 2 or 5 years ahead....

Graphics are not important. I prefer graphics of Rogue Galaxy, Hitman Blood Money, RE4, and MGS3 than PS3's/XBOX360's graphics. :)
For all those that does not listen one of the last HotSpot show, Sony announce that will support the PS2 till 2010 cause the sellings, of course that games will decrease but they will not gone zero. Other think is that some Wii games are coming for PS2 aswell cause the graphics alike and there are a huge number of games that were only realese in Japan and it's expected that they will come to Europe and Usa translated. I don't see PS2 dying yet.

Yes, the PS2 is dying...that $hit load of a game Aqua Teen Hunger Force: Zombie Ninja Pro-Am is living proof for the decay of the system's quality game development...so probably by 2009, it's over. By then, either get PS3 or XBOX 360. The Wii is a class of it's own...it's more of a party-family boardgame, but not on thesame levelof the other two.
One question for you all...what next-gen system you think might keep things interesting (as the PS2 did) for the next couple of years??? So far, IMO XBOX 360 it's doing pretty darn good.
It is dying, that's for sure but I think it still has many owners and people behind to keep it going for a little while. I don't play mine anymore (I play my shiny, new Xbox 360) but I'm still gonna keep it for a good, ol' prized possession.
true. lineup's all just ps3/xbox360 regurgitated games, unfortunately the life is being sucked straight outta it. There USED to be some great games, but well... it's lost it's touch for me.
This is perhaps the most sickening thing that people blather about on the game sites. Even if they cease all game production this second the library of games will never die. A PS2 can provide a fan of videogames with thousands of hours of top notch entertainment. So you enter the field for what 99 dollars? Then you go to GameStop with another 99 and walk out with six or seven games, not crap either, you could get all classics for that much money and you play them and enjoy yourself immensely for weeks and months on those dollars alone. How is that dead?

What do you mean "losing out to more intereactive gaming machines like the wii"??? The wii is the ONLy interactive gaming machine, and it's not "losing" out like you say. First off, in alot of the sales charts, ps2 still stomps even the Wii when it comes to sales. I said it before and I will say it again, at least the ps2 owners can say that it is "dying" and not "dead". When Wii and 360 came out micro and ninty stopped production of games for there last-gen consoles immiediately! How can the graphics of wii be beating ps2?? They are practically the same?? You are a troll, now get out of my forums!!! If the wii's graphics are so great troll, then why are so many games being released on the wii and ps2 simultaneously?
i think the PS2 deserves a much needed rest its like 7yo already! though the PS2 will eventually die it will forever be remembered, it will leave a significant mark in gaming history.
