PS2 - RPG Advise!

Hi everyone!

I recently bought another PS2 to play some RPG's on(Main Console is 360) and I was wondering what RPGs anyone could reccomend.

I have FF12 and loved it also completed it lol I also bought Suikoden V for £2.50($5) which I intend to start playing soon.

I'm after the FF types of games where ya get a set amount of chars that join you during diffrent stages of the game.

Looking into Valk Profile 2 and didn't like how it run. Basicaly want somthing simlair to FF Games where the story goes on and 5-15 chars join ya at diffrent points.

Also the older FF battle system where ya make ya choices from magic melee etc from a list.

Anyone?

man, whatever you do dont get valkryie profile. the game blows. thestory so far makes absolutely no sense. the game is set up where you are forced to level up your characters way too much. you are forced to run around beating up lame monsters oer and over for countless hours. after countless hours of leveling up, your guys still arent strong enough to fight the boss of the level. 4 his and your entire party is dead. i imagine this games total length is only around 20hours but with the forced leveling you might be looking at 80+ hours to beat it.

also there ae way too many characters in the game. you are also forced to level them up to get gems that power up your characters. this game would be great if it wasnt for the lack of EXP points you earn for fighting. it may seem like im complaining about the difficulty but im not. this game is extremely cheap.

imagine meeting a boss, getting wiped out quick, then going back through the level fighting hundreds and hundreds of battles against lame monsters hoping to build your characters strength only to fight that same boss again and getting killed in one or 2 hits. its stupid.

i love leveling up my characters in RPG games but when my character at level 10 and is only lke 100 hit points lower then a level 25 character, something is wrong. a level 25 chracter only doing maybe around 20 more hit ponts of damage then a level 10 character is lame. valkrye profile is lame. dont believe the reviews.

None of the Shin Megami Tensei games are for you. You seem to be a casual RPGer, so they dont suit you. Xenosaga depends on what you like, if you are ready for an excellent plot with so so playtime then its perfect, else avoid.

Dragon Quest VIII for old school, Rogue Galaxy and Dark Cloud 2 for real time, Kingdom Hearts 1&2 for disney and action, Tales series is good.

You are already about to play Suikoden V, so Suikoden III is another one though I am not sure if it was ever released in the UK.

Persona 3. It's much more accessible than the other Shin Megami Tensei games and it's completely different than the other RPGs out there. Your party members take care of themselves rather well.

The SMT games are all based on exploiting enemy weaknesses. If you don't mind a little trial and error, you'll be fine. The characters are very endearing and there are tons of demons to fuse. Best RPG of 2007 for sure.

I finished FFX by the way was pretty good.

As for Valk Profile lol yea I hated it! I tried Demo and meh it was like watching paint dry then repaintin to watch it dry again!

I would say Suikoden III for sure, but you seem to be in the European territory. For some reason, Suikoden III never released there. :(

So here go some other titles: Final Fantasy X, Kingdom Hearts I & II, Rogue Galaxy, Tales of the Abyss, and Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits (very underrated RPG).

RPG Games:

-GET Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2

-AVOID Xenosaga game series

-It's up to you to get Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria (though I didn't like it much)
