Hi,
I've had my PS2 for over six years now, and there has never been a problem, until yesterday. I was playing through some old games, and until I got to the end of MGS2, I was watching a cut-scene, when suddenly the screen moved an inch or two up in the left corner. Like, if you go into the "Screen Adjustment" menu in Options ( in MGS2) and you adjust the scrren to "-14 and -14" ... it's missing some of the screen. Sounds normal, some games don't always program Everything to work with the Screen Options so when a game say goes to a FMV scene instread of a In-game Cutscene one will have the default settings while the other uses the User's. Sorry but there is nothing you can do if that's what's happening. I'd play MGS2 to check, but I'm not in the mood.
There isn't some screen adjustment menu in the PS2 menu itself ... so I have to change the screen adjustment in every game, whenever I start the PS2 again. It's pretty annoying! Nope, PS2 wasn't designed with any screen centering options so it's up to all the developers and sometimes same games don't even save their screen options. And I've cleaned the whole console, unscrewed everything and cleaned it from dust, cleaned the lense etc. ... does anyone have any suggestion, or do you think my PS2 is broken? If I change the screen adjustment in fx Metal Gear Solid 2 to -14 and -14, the screen is in the right place, so the console shouldn't be broken. I just can't change the screen size anywhere, only in the games. :(

But it does miss some of the screen, even in the PS2 menu, and all other games. I think there's something wrong with my PS2.Sounds like your TV's is set to overscan the picture a bit too much in part of the picture, while underscaning the rest. See a game system picture is made with a Black border around it, the lower res the system is the bigger the boarder. They refer to this black void as "the safe zone" a area that developers can't usually program to because most TVs cut the area off by overscaning the picture some. Some TV's are poorly set correctly in the overscan areas, causing either too much or not enough of the pic to be centered right because the manufacture just didn't care about game systems. So it definatly sounds like that is you're problem, mixed with the fact that MGS2 must not use your user centering setting durring that scene(s). Sorry but there isn't anything you can do really, unless you have a TV that centering options or you invest in a expensive box that will control you video signal to allow centering and such.
Aren't there anyone else that's having this problem? I can't find anything about this subject on google. :(
