I have a slimline PS2, bought it about a year and a half ago. It works fine. Reads most DVD's, CD's, and games.. but it will not read newer games, like say, Rogue Galaxy. I recently rented it and it's in near-perfect condition, but won't read the disk. But some of my older games, like Soul Calibur 3, it reads them perfectly even though alot of them are scratched to hell. Is there any reason for this?

your system might been used too much. or that the newer games are programmed differently. But why wont you get a PS3 instead it will save you all the hassle.

What other games besides Rogue Galaxy are giving problems? You can try using a lens cleaner or use a Q-tip and aclohol to clean the lens if it is down to the lens being dirty. I think Rogue Galaxy is dual layered so sometimes PS2's can have problems with playing correctly.

I had the same problem with my PS2 (mine is the fat model though) it wouldn't read Rogue Galaxy at first either but I ran a DVD lens cleaner through it and it fixed the problem.
