Scariest PS2/PS1 game?

I want to know what is the scariest PS2/PS1 game. The only horror game I have is Resident Evil 4, although it's a great game... it isn't that scary.

I want to know what is the scariest horror game to play. You know, the types of games you play at night with all the lights off and the volume up while keeping aware of your surroundings? I want a game like that! :)

You can't go wrong with any of this game series: Silent Hill and Fatal Frame, now for much riskful options there are this games:

Extermination (PS2)

Rule of Rose (PS2)

Dino Crisis (PS1)

I agree with Silent Hill 2. I haven't played enough of Silent Hill 3 to give a good opinion but I imagine it's just as scary/creepy.

FEAR by far is the scariest game i nearly pissed my pants the first time i played it (i was 15 cut me some slack)

To start, resident eveil is not a horror game period.

There are alot of poor/ sloppy PS2 horror games like rule of rose and haunting grounds.
There are only a handful of good ones:
Silent hill
Fatal frame/ project zero
Obscure

PS1
Dino crisis1 (awesome graphics)
resident evil1,2,3
parasite eve1 (awesome story!)
silent hill1

For the PS2 fatal frame 2: crimson butterfly was pretty much supreme in the horror genre followed closely by silent hill 2hot114

loved parasite eve 1. it wasn't really scary but still had a horror feel to it. one of my fav games on the ps1.

Are we talking "RARRRRGH THERE'S A ZOMBIE IN YOUR FACE KILL IT KILL IT KILL IT" scary, or atmospheric, "Dude......I want a hug....and my mommy :(" scary? I'm looking for a good game like the latter.Jagazaar

I would have to say that silent hill 1 for the ps1 is the scariest game I have ever played. I played it when I was about 11 or 12. Those demon babies in the school house gave me nightmares for like 3 years haha. Even still it's creepy with all the lights turned off and I'm almost 20 lol. Silent hill 3 is the next scariest. rancidmustard

I don't really play a lot of "scary" games, so I'll go with Resident Evil 4 on the PS2.

Fatal Frame, and Silent Hill

Resident Evil 1 (PS1)

Me and my friend used to play it like at midnight till 2am and we're like 8 years old so that was at the time very late. Scared the **** out of us (four kids) but was fun as hell. Though vey outdated now. And I would say RE was a horror series but after RE4 it's an action game now.

The Suffering 1 (PS2) check it out its like 10$

Fatal Frame hands down
