If you played Ico and loved it my advice is to steer clear of this one.
If you did not play Ico my advice is to steer clear of this one.
But this thread will probably be hijacked by SOC fanboyz and I'll get flamed.
Don't say I didn't warn you.Â

People have different tastes in games? NO WAY!
Look up the word 'subjective' in the dictionary.Â
I'm still awaiting my copy of it so i can't say what i think of it yet.
Have a read of some user reviews. There is always the chance of you liking/not liking a game compared to someone else's opinion. The only way you will know is to play it.Â
I loved this game when I played it. May have taken me 10 hours even though I did just ride around everywhere lol.
But it had a great storyline, surprising ending, gameplay and strategy to defeating colossi was amazing. Adventuring never took it to such a high of a GREAT level of a game. I gotta recommend this game if you hadn't played it yet.

Thank you very much. Finally, someone else who did not fall for this terrible excuse of a shallow game. It's all about the experience, it needs no menus and standard enemies to kill along the way to kill because it would ruin the simplicity of this game BLAH BLAH BLAH! I hate these kind of games that demand to be looked at as some kind of art when in fact its a totally shallow game dressed up as some epic adventure, reminds me of FFX strangely. If you want high art with your video games, get Okami instead, atleast that game has some actual gameplay on it.
If you need something to occupy your time then don't get this game, it is 10 hours max. It is very different than what we normally see out there. I liked the game but can see how it is not suitable for everyone so I would give it a rental though I bought it for $10 new so it is not that expensive.
It has a few control issues and the framerate takes a good dip quite often but that did not hamper the game for me. There is no plot whatever way you look at it and the adventuring is limited. The game is only about fighting the colossi and it is implemented very well if you ask me. I loved it but maybe you should stick with a safer choice to buy for the time being.

Yes fanatics for the game rattle off the same cock and bull whenever it's mentioned. Straight from the media into your brain and out of your mouth. It's cool one time through, you could rent it and beat it.
I personally loved the game but will admit that it's a game more about style and atmosphere than about action.
If you're looking for a fast paced action game this will not appeal to you. If you want a game with tons of atmosphere that requires more mental finesse than hand-eye coordination than this is it. The game world is huge but it's also hugely unpopulated except for these 16 massive beasts that you must slay and a few docile lizards. Think of it as a game of nothing but huge boss battles with each one requiring more thought than the last to defeat.
That being said I did find the game fairly easy and coming from me that could mean it's extremely easy for someone else. It's a great game for $20 or less and I would highly recommend it as it offers some very unique gameplay.

The game was a very unique experience and ties in with Ico, but theres also alot of traveling through empty terrains and stuff. Its a game worth trying out but theres not much replay value aside from time attack modes.
SotC is an awesome game, I really enjoyed playing it, the gameplay is puzzling and the story (while almost un-existent) fills it's purpose, the characters you find along the game (the Colossi) got me to like them and to feel sorry for them. The game is really really cool.
But as stated by many before me, it's not for everybody. Like I said the story is pretty un-existent and basically all you do is kill one Colossi and then go find some other one and kill him too and so on. SO it's really really short: if you want a game that gets you going for at least one week, this game is not for you.
And neither it was for me, I ended up selling it after 2 weeks because it didn't offer me anything else, but it doesn't mean it's a bad game.
In my book, SotC is NOT a must have, but DEFINITELY a must try. ;)
