I'm playing Nocturne now , and while playing it I said to myself for MANY times "wow! this is a great game" so I'd like to share my opinion with u guys:P

the first thing to be said about the game (as gamespot said) refreshing! , I liked the customizing thing , which is changing the Magatama ,how u build ur own demon team , the fusing , carrying 8 skills only and the difficulty!

unlike FFX (which is very easy , for example changing a team member is very fast and there are always saves before bosses) , it's hard difficulty makes it more challenging , but after all make the right preparations (magatama and party) and u'll have fun while kicking any hard boss ass!

honestly I found it very hard at 1st but later it became easier to me (dunno about others:P)

I'm lazy continuing and this is no review:P so I'm gonna end this:P

it's really a very refreshing game that brough some new enjoyable gameplay to the RPG genre! and it's a high quality game!

oh , and I like the way they respect the hero for being strong (y'know demon world!)

the question is , who agree and who disagree?

Where did you find your copy at? I've been looking everywhere for that game, and nobody (and I mean nobody) has had it.

You can find it at Amazon.com, Half.com, etc. but it will be at an exorbitant price (the same applies to Digital Devil Saga part one). If you're lucky enough to find it at a video game retailer, it will be the suggested retail price, but that isn't going to happen.

I hate you for having that game, to be clear. I hate you with a BURNING passion.

This is the one game I saw sitting on a shelf, opted to wait out a bit before buying it and never got to see it again ever since. I regret not having purchased it in the first place.

I actually found a copy at a (fairly) local Gamestop. Case, instructions, and perfect discs (included the sound track). $44.99 :D

Call around, and do it frequently. See if any game store will put you on a waiting list if it comes in. Otherwise, check around. You might be surprised.

What I love about Shin Megami Tensei is it throws difficulty levels in your face. Digital Devil Saga was quite challenging, Nocture is the hardest RPG I have played, simple as that. On the very FIRST fight of the game, I almost died, its a tutorial battle and I almost died! It made me so happy to find a game that does that.

As for price, man its crazy. I remember buying my copy sealed for $70, now its hitting $150 for a mint. Guess I was lucky.

I got my copy for dead cheap. It's way too hard for my liking, so I gave up relatively early on.

Oh and to those who are wanting to play this take note of this (I'm warning people so they won't be disappointed.)

I am a hardcore RPG player and have played nearly every RPG (Even old NES RPGs which are the hardest) and as a whole there are two hard RPGs that stand out to me. Phantasy Star 2... and then Nocturne. I beat Phantasy Star 2 without a guide (as far as when to level up or anythng, there are some ridiculously hidden key items that I refered to a guide for) and then Nocturne kicked my but the whole time I played it. Its the R-Type of RPGs, the Ghouls and Ghosts if you will.

I don't know, Phantasy Star 2 was awfully hard (of course, the last time I played it was 15 years ago, so it might not be so hard for me anymore). I didn't find Nocturne to be all that difficult...

Certainly harder than most RPG's released now, but I bet I fought Dark Force 25 times before I beat it...

Needless to say, I'm a huge Atlus fan. Nocturne is much better than FFX if you ask me. Yeah, it can be hard at times, you never know when you can get hama-ed or mudonn-ed

Choices and a million combos for your party makes this the best SMT game ever. P3 comes next.

I just finished the game myself a few weeks ago and loved it. The difficulty goes beyond the battles though, sometimes it's hard to know where to go. Also, some of the puzzles (pitfalls and warps can drive you crazy!) can be tough. Just keep upgrading your demons, use a party that works for the dungeon you're currently in and you'll be fine.

The Shin Megami Tensei is now my favorite RPG series and I've bought as many as I could find. If you haven't played it already, you should play Persona 3 next. It's not as hard but you'll recognize the demons and the characters, battle systems and social links are great.
