The new battle system is good, I was a little apprehensive at first because I was so used to turned based systems but tis is trully a step up. Get it you will enjoy it.

I'm really enjoying the new battle system. I think it's a nice change and it's good to see that they are trying something new.

the battle system is basicly turn based in disguise, the only difference between the battle system in FFXII and other FFs is that now you can walk around during the battle, and you actually see enemies on the map

You kill mobs, you get LP points, then you unlock your skills, or armor. You need to buy the armor though, and just unlock them if you want to use it. same goes with Magic, its really easy once you figure it out, if you buy the guide it will walk you through it.

The battle system is awesome. If anything, you should buy the game because of it rather than it make you shy away from it.

man, i love it... i HATED FFX (don't hurt me) i just didnt like their old turnbased system, it was slow and boring and again, don't hurt me. FFXII is nice and fast and strategic, it's not just hack-n-slash or anything like KH.... it works really well in my opinion and it rekindled my hope in FF

The new system works fantastically in my opinion. And it really doesn't take 6 hours to get used to, or atleast, it didn't for me. The only thing I had to get used to was the inverted horizontal look on the camera that isn't changeable. I love the battle system, it makes the game more involving. Since the games in the past followed involvement along the lines of random battles, pressing x four times and waiting. Even though there is still waiting, because you have to wait for an attack, spell, or anything, you atleast have the option to move around. And change characters during battle. It's really cool and a definite plus that you don't have to walk around -everywhere- as Vaan, even though when you're in cities and non-battle oriented areas you do. The license board is really cool too, as are gambits, and the defeat chain kicks ass, because the more of the same enemies you'll kill, the more items they'll drop and sometimes you can get cured or get protect/shell automatically casted on you.

Story is great, videos are awesome but when you learn the battle system you will understand that the best thing you can do is turn on the gambits (AI) on all players and watch them kill, then cure, then kill, then die, then ressurect... you 'll not enjoy spells & teknicks like the previous ff (my opinion at least) it isn't much about stradegy more like a hack & slash with a bit of magic.  Terible is also that you must BUY magic!?!?!?!?!?!?! But besides all that it's still got the touch of final fantasy "can't play without them"

he battle system is alike World of warcraft, but a lot better and it was alittle challenging at first, then later  it became okay,I'm not a huge fan of the license system, but it's okay it's like a minigame itself..it has a more open feel to it,it isnt like the previous ff games,,you feel like you have more freedom...

but overall the battle suits the game, the only thing I dont like is the license sytem,(c'mon a license to use nearly anything and everything..)...but overall it's a good game.

You would miss out on alot if you dont, Its a great game and i dare say this is a good game to introduce people to RPG's

the Battle system take a bit of getting used to but in reality it is kinda neat if u learn how to use your gambits you can prevail in any situation .....thats the whole idea of RPG type of gameplay this just stramlines it. although at times it seems like your characters are fully autonomus and you just sit back and watch...

I loved this game and invested quite a few hours into it and enjoyed every minute of it.... u should definitly try it out.

You should definitely buy this game if you are an RPG fan.  Although the battles are very different from previous FFs (excluding FFXI, in which the battle system is a little similar).  The battle system takes a little getting used to, took me about an hour to get used to gambits.  Although the gambit system adds a whole new side on strategy, because some bosses may or may not require some specialized gambits in a certain order (if you want the boss battles to run smoothly).  This may seem confusing at first, but once you play it, you will get used to it, and love it, as I did.  You will not be disappointed.  Good luck if you do buy it!
