Should I get my new PS2 now?

So, I have an old, bigger designed PS2 right now that my friend wants to buy from me for $60. It seems like its gonna die pretty soon cause during most loading times it takes a little bit longer compared to my very first PS2.

Now, I am willing to sell my older PS2 to get a silver slim line one, but I've heard rumors that Sony is releasing a newer, even slimer PS2 this fall. Should I wait it out and get that one or go ahead and get my new PS2 now?

Youmust mean the PSP slim.... I guess power-wise, it is on par with the ps2 but it is not a replacement for the ps2 slim though.

In July of 2007, Sony announced a new, lighter PlayStation 2. The new model SCPH-79000 of the PS2 hardware features a drop in weight from 900 to 600 grams. So, with this news, should I wait or go ahead and get one now?
