I bought a used ps2 off ebay and it's kind of slow (not that bad) But I was wondering how long ps2's last, and different signs of them dying.

I have my PS2 for 4 years now. Depends on how you handle it really. If your always smashing it with things or not cleaning it monthly they there is a chance that it can die early.

My one has lasted me for 5 years... still work fine. Not sure about the signs though. When there's smoke coming out from the back of your ps2? Joking.

:D

When you pop in a game and it stays on the browser screen for a couple of minutes and a clicking sound can be heard. Thats pretty bad sign there, happened to my old PS2.

They don't just break, people break them. If you care for it it will last you FOREVER (well at least long enough). If you smack it and keep it dusty for a hell of a long time, then it should break, at least that way the irrresponsible people might learn their lesson. The one i bought from launch still woks perfectly. Oh yea, and doesn't the PS2 NEW cost $150. why would anyone buy a used 1 from ebay (which break, A LOT). I didn't know the PS2 was difficult item to find. lol.

Personal experience. PS2s don't fare well in the tropics. Especially in my country.

The sign for my one was that it started to not read discs, even new ones. It lasted about 4 years and 11 months (not that I was counting) and I cleaned it about once every 2-3 months.
