Just in general, most fighting games are better than Tekken. Tekken has horrid fight mechanics that somehow manage to go from game to game. Soul Calibur, however, won its high marks for graphics and gameplay. Great implementation all around for Soul Calibur.
Soul Calibur is a better game in almost every perspective. But Tekken 5 can be quite entertaining and fun if you're looking for some fast pace fist pounding ass kicking action.
I would rate Soul Calibur III close to 10 relative to all the fighting games out there and Tekken 5 a 9/10 for its fun factor.
tekken all the way not to say that soul caliber is'nt cool, but i always liked martial arts alot, but then again sword battles can be intense i... i just dont know
soul calibur is so much fun if u got friends to play wit. played halo 2 most of the day a week ago then for some reason stoped playing(IDK why...was fun) then played some soul calibur 3 and taked turns playing(was 7 of us)
but SC3 has a really horrible and evil glitch. I had to start the game from the beginnig 3 times.DSJ
Yeah, youre one of the few who admit that. Of course fanboys will be fanboys. I like Soul Calibur in general but even without the stupid glitch the game felt underdone. It felt rushed. I mean, recycled weapons you have to unlock ALL OVER again, that terrible real-time strategy mode, and the new characters were crappy to say the least.
Compare that to Soul Calibur 2 which was really polished compared to that abomination of a game. Of course though im going to be called a troll...so go ahead...call me one.
i perfer Tekken 5 because it's more fast paced, and i like the characters better, but i really like the customization in SC3, i've made some pretty bad ass characters :P if i had to make a list of my favorite fighting games SC3, and Tekken 5 would both be there lol
I have yet to find a more engaging fighting game than Soul Calibur 3. Friends and I consistently played that game for hours on end. It is too much fun.
I see see SC3 and Tekken 5 like i see Burnout and Gran Turismo/Forza, one is more free and has wider appeal, the other is more techical and withheld.
Get Tekken 5. It comes with Tekkens 1-3 included, and it's simply the better game, hands down. Tekken has the best fighting mechanics and moves for a 3D fighter, while SC3 is a soulless button-masher. SC3 can get deep, but you always got to worry about some n00b stepping up and slapping buttons around FTW. Tekken is better made, even beyond the moves and such, it's just a much more robust experience. Graphics, gameplay, and a tonne of cool extras. SC3 just felt like a hammered out sequel. bleh.
I am not a huge fan of SC3. Yeah occassionally I will pick it up and play it for an hour or so. I find Tekken5 far more to my liking. I don't know why though.
i play soul calibur with my mates because its fun too play if your all shockingly bad at it, on the other hand i play tekken with my mates that are good at tekken so wat im saying is tekken is more fun(if your good at it)
IMO , Tekken 5 is the BEST fighting game on the PS2 ........ with gr8 graphicsanda great roster of characters , each one havin a different and unique fighting style .......... Tekken 5 is even more fun if you have more guys to play with ............ especially those awesome 8-man team battles ...........TEKKEN RULES !!!!!!!!!!!! .......... :)
I dont actually OWN tekken 5, but from what I've played of it, SC III is better by far, since there are so many different weapons, the fighting styles are so different that you can have lots of fun just experimenting, especially with character create.
