pretty neat. I preferred the music of FFVII and FFIX over that of FFX's. But i agree that game music is an art. I think there are more people coming to realize that.

Uematsu is the best, too bad he left Square so he didnt make the music for FFXII and wont do any FF music again...

music from FFX is good, but i think FFVII has the best soundtrack ever made. I still have to play FFVIII and IX... in my opinion music from FFX is not as good as FF7 music because its not MIDI anymore

FFVII for PS1 wasn't MIDI format. For the PC it was, but there are downloads to switch them out with PS1 music.

Music can make a game epic. Just like a movie. The right music at the right time make make something seem much more intense or sad or moving.

Probably the biggest leap forward for video game music of all time was FFIV. FFVI was amazing as well. Both of them are better than any of the other FF if you hear the orchestra versions, which wasn't possible on the SNES, obviously. Final Fantasy Tactics also had some amazing music. Also, God of War 1/2 had music better than the vast majority of big budget movie scores.

Also, it makes you think, pretty much the top 5 video game soundtracks are probably from FF games. People greatly underappreciate just how much more FF games offer than any other series out there. Very little repetition in environments, yet the games last 50+ hours, while the normal nowadays is under 10. Final Fantasy always has the best graphics (well, right up there, since this is opinion) on the console since FFVI. They have the best music of any other franchise, and they have about 5 times the amount of music tracks. It's hard to argue that an awesome 8 hour game should be able to be ranked in the top games, but seriously, FF games usually have a staff far greater than any other game and do take more work than almost all others. It's just hard to compare due to the size difference of FF compared to most others. Also, I'm by no means saying FF games are perfect, and my favorite game of all time is not a FF game (although it is a squaresoft game).

o and, sometimes people don't get it. don't forget that you may like the music better because you have played the game. like I haven't played a lot of zeldas but sometimes when I hear some Kenji Kondo i don't think it's anything that special.

wow man this brings back so many memories.. i feel something weird inside everytime i hear that instrumental. ffx was more than a game to me, it was an experience. the characters, the story, the setting.. it was all special. the characters were so unique and perfect, i felt a strong connection with them and the story. i almost cried in some of the cut scenes with tidus and yuna. lol trust me i'm never like this but man this game has a place in my heart. it's one of those things you don't ever forget.
