Even if they weren't making any more games for it, there's so many existing games to choose from, you could never play them all.  Yeah, I would say it's worth it and it's never too late to enjoy games, no matter the system.

Yepp, its too late. perfect time to get ps2 was 1 year ago. Now you wont find most of the great games from 2004. i would say save up for a ps3.

Now is actually the ideal time. The system is cheap and the games are cheap too. More importantly, PS2 has an ENORMOUS library of games that is still continuing to grow.

Worth getting now, there are a lot of games that are 10x better than new-generation ones.

You've got about a year left to get a PS2. There are so many games worth buying that are incredible for that system that are really cheap in comparison to the PS3. While the PS3's graphics and blu-ray capabilities give it the edge, I'd say if you want something new right now, get a PS2.

It's still worth getting a ps2 because there is a lot of fun games for the ps2 and also the games are not expensive and fun.

They probably are still making games for it still, im not sure. But there isn't going to be anything as good as its already released titles.

BTW, how much does the small one cost. It seems evertime isearch for it i can never get any results.

There are several games on the way that will likely be "as good as its already released titles" such as Persona 3, Odin Sphere, Manhunt 2, Grim Grimoire, etc...

You can pick up a slim PS2 for $130 (via Amazon for example - with no sales tax and free shipping), sometimes less...I just bought one around last Christmas, and do not regret choosing it over one of the current gen systems (I would let the current generation mature a little more unless you feel the need to be on the bleeding edge or play online with/against other people).

The PS2 has a huge collection of games such as the God of War series , the Ratchet and Clank series , ICO , Shadow of the Colossus , the Metal Gear Solid series etc ........... these are all superb games but dont expect any brand new "superb" games to be released this year .........

While the new game flow has begun to slowly decrease there are still plenty of gems coming out for the system.  That and with the price you'd have to be nuts to not buy one and just find previous games as the 2nd hand game industry is still going to be going strong for quite a while on ps2...I mean look at PS the main franchise stores just stopped accepting PS games this past year.
