Trying to make The Ultimate PS2 RPGs List need ur help finishing it **EDIT5**

NOTE: FOCUS ON POINTING ON BAD GAMES , AND POSTING UNLISTED GOOD GAMES ...PLZ

hey guys , here's my story, I bought my PS2 a little late (I believe it's not TOO late :) I couldn't buy it earlier formany reasons...)and I wanna get all RPGs which shouldn't be missed or which deserve attention (y'know , the good/great rpgs)

so I'm trying to put all those RPGs in a list , I made it from my friends and users opinions , reviews and GS ratings (didn't depend on a single thing btw) .

now , please help me completing it and suggest RPGs that u think they are great ,but pls don't mention what has already been mentioned , unless u wanna explain why u found the game so good (we don't wanna see a mess like in the sticky topic:P)

I love Persona 3.
I'm not really a fan of Final Fantasy XII.
Star Ocean isn't bad.
Dark Cloud 2 seems pretty good from what I've played.
I don't really consider Odin Sphere an RPG.
I haven't played Digital Devil Saga 2.
I haven't opened Dragon Quest VIII.

And I don't own the others.

Here's a big 'ol list of RPGs from the Candid Collector's Union. Some of them are good, some of them not so much.

wild arms 3

All three Xenosaga games were good, you can play the third w/o playing the first two, but you'll miss out on some character development and story.

FFX looked great the first time I played it on PS2, I couldn't tell where the in-game movies (cutscenes) ended and the game began.

I didn't much like Kingdom Hearts 2, one was good though. Also, the Shin Megami... games were pretty good.

If you want to play Xenosaga, you'd better be prepared for a lot of cutscenes. I forget to mentioned that I played Episode I and liked it. There's so much story, it's not a good idea to skip installments.

With the exception of Devil Summoner, the Shin Megami Tensei series is considered a lot harder than most RPGs. If you want a challenge, it's a good choice though. Persona 3 is a good entry point for the series since it's not as hard as Digital Devil Saga and Nocturne, and you should still be able to find it in stores without too much difficulty.

who would you believe in? gamespot or the people that acutally played the whole .hack games?

FFX -classic rpg. Its great but the battles can be boring.
FFXII - hot chick with no soul. The game is beyond beautiful and does an awesome job of fleshing out the world of Ivalice, but the story in beyond mind numbing.

Grandia1-2 - ?? Just cant get into these. Boring story and boring battles.

Kingdom Hearts1-2 - action RPG, no matter what you think about the story the games are freaking fun to play. The gummiship minigames are freaking awesome.

Xenosaga1-3 , standard RPG. I like the first one because you could get stronger than your opponents. But waiting for the other two chapters pissed me off so i deleted my Xenosaga 1 file and havent bothered with the other two.


Disgaea 1-2, Makai Kingdoms, Phantom Brave - Tactical RPG with wicked game mechanics and very funny stories. More replay than any games you will ever play.

Baldurs Gate: 1-2, - Never got to play em butfrom what people have said they sound great.

Champions: Return to arms, - I dont know why you would get the first one. The second one probably has better options and mechanics. I that game. Its action based and you have to find the equipment you use.

Shadow Hearts1-3, - Never seen em.

SMT: Nocturne - never seen it

SMT:DDS 1-2, - Seemed like a cool story but damn the battles are difficult. I quit.

SMT: Persona3 - The story is kind of lame but the battles are decent, the game like totally controls the pace you play which really sucks. I dont care if i ever play it again.

Tales of - not that impressed with this series either, the story is blah, the combat is blah.

Suikoden - Boring story, the battles are pretty ****c rpg but you collect all these other characters. I thought 3 was incredibly difficult. 4 and 5 are just average. Suikoden Tactics is pretty awesome but you better learn how characters can die first.

Wild Arms 3-5, - pretty cool but they are so loooooong.

Dark Cloud 2 - action rpg, one of the best ever, massive replay.
Rogue Galaxy- the retarded brother to dark cloud 2. Combat is fine, the story is fine, but they totally gutted the depth that was in DC2.

X-Men Legends 1-2, MUA - awesome overhead action game. Battle are just simple button mashing combo's with some special beam powers and stuff, you find equipment to use and level up. Xmen Legends 2 is the best. MUA is pretty fun to with lots of different characters.

Summoner 2 - Average but on the fun side.

Breath of fire: Dragon Qaurter - sucks. What I played of 4? wasnt that great.

Arc The Lad2- was pretty awesome, you get to move around in the battlezone and use different weapons and stuff. The story is pretty cool to.

Gladius- what?

Star Ocean: Till the End of Time - I get these mixed up. I think the latest one kind of sucked.If you run out of HP or SP your character dies. You can refill either by using items which have really low maximums but those run out and you cant refill them at save points. You have to fight to get stronger but if you go to far away from a town you could be stranded. The whole game just isnt as fun as the one that came before it.

Valkyrie Profile2: silmeria - awesome action based battles, awesome story, lots of characters to collect and level up. The sidescrolling dungeon crawling kind of sucks all the magic out of it.

Radiata Stories - Pretty cool, Lots of characters to collect, graphics are sweet, the story is cool. The battles are fun.

Dragon Quest 8- Old school fun. I really hate the character graphics and story though and the battles are beyond suck.

Odin Sphere - Just an awesome game. Its basically a side scrolling button mashing combat game but you can collect food and items and make stuff with them with alchemy or taking them back to town and having them cooked. The game has some frame rate and freeze problems.

Soul Nomad & The World Eaters - Beyond boring and worthless. Such a let down from NIS. You far better off getting Ogre Battle and disgaea seperately then getting this game that is a hybrid.

Growlanser- I like tacticals but i've never played these games.

Megaman X Mission Command- this game is really difficult like the SMT DDS. I quit playing it.

Front Mission 4- This is the second best tactical game series on ps2 besides Disgaea. Its giant robot combat. Its made by sqauresoft. The stupid retards wont translate 5 and bring it over though. 3 was for ps1.

Green is good, red is bad, and nuetral is uncolored.

Everyone will have a different opinion. And he listed P3 and DQ8 as neutral, not bad.

But considering that he didn't even mention the Social Links in Persona 3, I'm not sure how much he played it.

if youre gonna get a tales game, get tales of symphonia. its much better than legendia. the 3d battles are better and symphonia doesnt have quite as many annoying characters as legendia.

dq8 is a must buy. the main quest is huge and the sidequests are so well implemented that you could consider them part of the main quest. its also pretty hard to over level so the battles are harder than youd expect. dq8 has one thing that the others on the list dont have: charm. you really have to experience it.

Add SMT Devil Summoner as well. rohver

Symphonia is on the Gamecube and it's the best Tales game last gen.... Abyss was "ok" but had a ton of probelms with it, Legendia had TERRIBLE dungeons, random battles, generic story and characters, it's the weakest of all Tales games that made it to America...

You need convincing that you should buy a game where you get to see giant robots fire machine guns, shotguns, snipers rounds, missles, and grenades at each other??? Its made by sqauresoft. Oh yeah you also get to use melee attacks with clubs and spike thingies and fists. If giant robot games duking it out doesnt get your juices flowing you need to see a doctor. _AbBaNdOn

I LIKE THE WHOLE CONCEPT OF STORY LINES ,LEVELING YOUR CHARACTER UP USING SPELLS,MULITPLE CHARACTERS,HAVING LARGE OR SMALL FANTASY CREATURES FOR USE IN BATTLES OR TRAVEL.

I COULD GO ON.

WHAT ID LIKE TO SEE IS SOME SORT OF SCI-FI RPG THERE ARE A COUPLE BUT NOT WHAT IM LOOKING FOR I NEED SOMETHING LIKE A STAR TREK`D SORT OF THEME,BATTLE THE KLINGONS SO FORTH,JUST IMAGINE BEEN CAP`N KIRK HAVING TO VENTURE OUT ON YOUR OWN ,STOPPING OF AT DISTANT PLANETS SEARCHING FOR YOUR CREW.WELL SOMAT ON THEM LINES.MAYBE ILL SIT DOWN AND WRITE ONE AT SOME POINT PASS IT ON TO A BIG COMPANY ;)

Those aren't all RPGs.

As for Devil Summoner, most SMT fans consider it to be the weakest game in the franchise (of those that we recieved in North America at least). It's also a lot easier than the others, so if you find Nocturne, DDS, and Persona 3 too difficult you may like it better.

Grrrr put a - next to makai kingdom and phantom brave!! You also need to add PSU and PSU:AI and put a - next to them!! And if you dont add Front Mission4 I will decrapitate you!!!_AbBaNdOn

I'll see about - for makai and brave , and Front mission 4 isn't a RPG!
