Unable to finish God of War 2

My game got stuck at chapter 3 , may be the disk was scratchy , it often got stuck at the cutscenes . Then I got a new one . all worked fine and i moved ahead until i reached the chapter 5 "Crossing the lowlands" . where kratos has to hang on to series of clamp-ons (with R1) , but after the last clamp , when kratos should land in the cave , the screen goes blank , kratos almost disappears , only swords are visible. I watched the gameplay , I was doing the right sequence . What should I do next ??

Are their glitches in game. should I buy one more disk

I dont remember GoW 2 having chapters. And thats a disk error most likely.

You need a good PS2 to play this game I tried playing on my friends PS2 and it wouldnt play because his PS2 was so old like 5 or 6 yearsCorrupt_Nodachi

Mne is from the first ones and works fine, but its true that many of the first ones had issues reading DL discs, so if you have a fatty, go buy a slim. They will read the disc better.

Thanks for all the replies folks , I'd like to add I got a brand new PS2 Slim 2 weeks ago just for GOW2 . My old fatty did not play the GOW2 disc at all. eventually it died . So the chances of old or poor lense can be ruled out . And you all'd be surprised , since I started this thread , I bought one more new disc , the old saved data in memory card got corrupted because i had to reboot when the game usullay stuck at cutscenes or sometimes at "LOADING" scene. Interestingly , I started my game from the very beginning , the game worked perfectly and I was able to clear the "Crossing of lowlands" grappling moves . Cleared the caves and then on to the bridge outside named "The Great Chasm". Here I got Stuck again , Actually when kratos moves to the second part of bridge , towards end , there should be a cutscene and then a boss fight while both fall down . (This is what I read in gameplay guide) , But nothing happens on the bridge , NO CUTSCENE , all kratos can do is stand on the very edge for long-long time waiting and then kill himself falling off the bridge.

I am Sorry to say that i 've given up on finishing GOW2 . I am starting some other games . Am I the only unlucky one , or what ?? Do I have a company , any one of you have faced similar issues ????? What do you say ?
