Indeed, you're talking about a game that won't even be available for another month, here or in Japan. So there's not a lot we can say about it now, nor can you buy it yet anyway.
Odin Sphere looks absolutely enchanting, and I will be buying it despite my philosophy of "gameplay over graphics". In this case, it's not about the resolution or graphics tech though, but about some really irresistable art design. It looks and sounds like a lush, illustrated storybook come to life, and I want to see it despite reservations about the gameplay. But you're several weeks early on comparisons or "what-should-I-buy"s for it.
This is my attraction to the game as well. I hope the gameplay does live up to it's art direction though. Have you see Grimgrimoire yet? This one actually grabbing a little more of my attention because it's an RTS.Indeed, you're talking about a game that won't even be available for another month, here or in Japan. To the TC, VP2 is worth owning, it's quite simply a beautiful game all around. And as the others have said, you're gonna have to wait for opinions on Odin Sphere.

I can see why you feel so attracted by both of those games, OS and GrimGrimoire, they are (were) being developed by Vanillaware a ***. rpg company that excels on 2d art, also the music composer is the same (Sakimoto Hitoshi, which is reason enough for me to trust in the quality of the games). I am anticipating OS and GG along with Persona 3, i wonder how they will turn out.
About the Valkyrie Profile 2 or Odin Sphere purchase (preorder), VP is easy to recommend to a RPG or action oriented gamer as well, the game is very fast paced while keeping the typical strategical/tactical maneuvering of any Rpg, offers a lengthy but linear adventure with plenty of customization, and the blend of a distintive art/sound style with norse myths make it unique. For Odin Sphere i cannot say too much other than the game will offer a deep storyline with 5 playable and likeable characters in at least 40 hours of gameplay, adjust of difficult settings, 2d side scrolling battles, top quality sound/music effects, and other action rpg conventions.
Odin Sphere isn't out yet and I haven't played it so I wouldn't know.
Valkyrie Profile 2 is really good though.
Do you think I have a chance of buying it next year, or will it be something like SMTN. Cause I dont wanna shell out 100 dawa for it. Do i?Blade_of_Athens
It's an Atlus game and a lot of those end up hard to find later on.

Yes, and I have high hopes for both. As Serpentaurus points out here, they're both sharing the benefit of Vanillaware's terrific artistic talent, and they just look irresistable to me. I know how PandaSamurai felt seeing the trailer for Odin Sphere, I was the same way. I'm just thrilled that they're still making games like this despite all the next-gen hype seeming to focus in other directions lately, and more thrilled that Atlus continues to bring them to us over here.
But I was amazed when I first read the specifics on GrimGrimoire from the Atlus press event -- a gorgeous hand-illustrated 2D... RTS, rather than RPG! I have no idea how that will work, but it certainly looks and sounds intriguing and it will be interesting to see. I kind of got out of RTS's way back around Warcraft 2 and Total Annihilation for the PC, so this will not only be my first one for the PS2, but the first one I've played in general for a long time.

Well, I have no way of knowing for sure how many they'll produce or how fast they'll be scooped up, but as Murderous points out, so many of the Atlus games do end up becoming a lot harder to find over here after a while. These are the kinds of games that almost never even turn up in the game stores where I live, so I end up having to get anything like this online -- usually from the official stores of Atlus or NISA if I can, or from Amazon or GameQuestDirect otherwise. Once these kinds of games get rare though, it can be tough -- so I'd say if you think you want it, don't count on waiting until next year.
I also neglected to point out in my first post that indeed Valkyrie Profile 2 is definitely well worth buying regardless. I had kind of overlooked it until AtelierFan got me to really take notice of it a while back. It's a solid, interesting action-RPG that's pretty distinctive in terms of its tone and feel. Not to mention that it's also really gorgeous. I am very impressed by it so far, and I like it a lot.
I don't know much about odin sphere but I'm really looking forward to it..
It doesn't matter how odin's sphere turns out to be, you won't regret getting VP2. It's a really fun rpg with unique battle system =) The graphics are great and I don't think you will get bored with it.
