I dunno. I maxed out Gunslinger, Trickster & Swordmaster (Royal Guard is just not my thing :P) but I mostly use Trickster because you get more jumps, evading etc

Royal guard owns everything if you're good with it.
Depends on the boss/level. Gunslinger, for instance, would be a VERY bad idea against Vergil (particularly on DMC mode), whereas it would be quite useful against generic Hell enemies. Royal Guard is overall the best style IMHO, but being able to use it to its full potential requires flawless timing and reflexes (particularly in this game), something which is beyond most gamers (including myself :()

I think Swordmaster looks most bad-ass, but I like using Trickster myself. Not just cuz it make the game easier IMO, but also because that's just how I like to play. I like to dodge a lot.

well it was boring to play as royal guard, i'm not sure whether or not i lvled it up, i liked sword master cus of all the awesome combos and special attacks u can pull off. sorta off topic there this move that when u knock an enemy down press o u stand on the enemy start shooting like crazy, is that just trickster or on any style?
Royal guard kicks some serious demon but :) Takes some time to learn but once ya got the timing right your unstoppable.

thats called "Wild Stomp" and it's with gunslinger, and when you're by an enemy you rapidly press square to do it
