Until now I have played the whole monter rancher series (on ps1 and ps2 except the Evo one). I thinnk MR is a great game. It gave a lot of satisfaction feelings through a fun and addicting gameplay. The graphics throughout the series are also nice. I think monster rancher 2 is still the best coompared to others. It's still very original. I found MR started to change since MR3. But MR3 was still a lot of fun. But MR4 was just kinda lame in my opinion... It adds too many features that instead of improving the gameplay, ruining the gameplay. That's just why I think. Now what about the next MR? what do you expect from it? more monsters? more rpg elements? I think MR needs to chill down and look back to the original idea of breeding and raising monsters. Different skills for different monster combination looks pretty cool. So it's not only the potential in the monster's ability that need to be aware of, but also the skills it may acquire. Also, i think the tournaments need a lot more opponents on one rank, so it will not be too repetitive. And of course, improvement of AI quality. I'm not sure what they did to MR4 cos I just play it a bit. Last, I kinda hate the adventure stuff in MR4.. it just doesn't fit onto MR.

More free movement, and improvement of the already great idea of Monster Rancher 2, more monsters, more depth story and a wide tournament. Playing Monster Rancher is Fun, competing with my friends and cousins who also Breeds their monsters. ( oh.. the monster rancher 2, days.. ). :D

I would honestly love to see them get back to basics. Monster Rancher 1 and 2 were by far the best out of the series, in my opinion, and that is because they took their simple idea and they played it out quite well. There were translation errors abound, but it worked and was a blast to play. I am not too big of a fan of the free roaming deal, I just think it takes up too much time that isn't really needed. I also loved the old expidition system. For such a simple game it was incredibly complex, and then as they tried to add new elements it just kept getting worse and worse. I own each monster rancher game and though I enjoyed them all I am not sure if there is a future for the series if the next game, if there will be one, isnt great.

If you want some news on monster rancher head on over to MonsterRancherMetropolis, alot of us breeders gather there to share information and get info on new games.

I am not sure if this is still in the works or not but for a period of time there was a PC Online Multiplayer version on Monster Rancher in the works. It is a bit hazy if it is still being made, but I honestly think that would be amazing.

What do i expect from Tecmo and the next Monster Rancher game??  NOT A HELL OF A LOT!!!  Tecmo has become a pretty pathetic game publisher/developer.

My fav mr game was mr4.  I liked the monsters and how you trained them,  I liked the adventuring.   What I didnt like was that breeding monsters was pointless.  Breeding two S class monsters together only gave you a marginally better monster and no mater how many times your bred S class monsters together they never got any better than that.   Thats what I loved about MR Evo.  Stat carry over was exactly what i wanted but then they went and put in that dumb @ss training system with the stupid minigames.  I beat the game and I would love to work on my monsters but honestly playing those minigames constantly makes me wanna puke so it sits in my game binder unused.

I had high hopes for the new deception game Trapt but it turned out to be a flaming turd also.  They were to busy to translate the damn game and it wasnt even as involved as Deception 3!!   D3 let you mix base traps with elemental properties to make various kinds of traps.   Trapt just unlocks them as you play, woooo.

The next monster rancher game should have stat progression like evo and training methods like 4.   I'd like arena battles to be more action orientated like kingdom hearts or dark cloud 2 style.   You have direct control over the monster and he can block, lock on, jump, and has lots of buttons for various attacks of different ranges and area of effect.   It would be freaking awesome if you had that and then arena battles were free for all against 2-15 other opponents all at once.   I'd like to see more crowd interaction,  cutscenes whenever something important happens for either monster.

I forget how you unlock monsters in evo but I think i liked 4's the best when you have to find pieces of the saucers.  I dont really have any idea's on howto improve adventuring.  I really dont like making the game all about one hit killing stuff.  It might be neat if they made it tactical or just more turn based like Jade Cacoon 2.

But whatever. I dont have anything except contempt for Tecmo and their half @ssed programming skills.

I'm not so sure about the adventure elements being implemented in monster rancher, because from what I see in monster rancher 4, it turns out to be very boring adventure - probably because tecmo didn't put enough effort to really optimize every aspect in the adventures such as the enviroments, the events, etc. Again, I still don't know about evo because I haven't had the chance to play it. But it's still kinda hard for me to imagine combining the idea of breeding and adventuring into one game.

I like what your ideas about the battle. The battle can be a lot more interactive if more actions are available. Instead of the 2D-view battle, a 3D arena battle would be awesome. Something like royal rumble will also be interesting. But I will disagree about direct control of monsters. In fact, the game is about us, as breeder, raising monsters, not actually being them. It will make sense if we give the commands. I was thinking about a feature where a battle habit/instinct of the monster can actually be trained. So the battles will not only be a matter of stats and techniques, but also the inner battle instinct of the monster itself. For example, we can train a golem to most of the time battle more defensely, always prioriting defense over offense.

I hope they will cos I loved that game (the one in ps1). I'm not sure why it is rated so bad... but really the game is really fun. I know that the battle animation was very lame. But the overall gameplay is pretty good. And compared to other ps card games such as digimon battle card or yugi oh.. this one's still the best

Yeah i also thought abot ways to train the monsters AI. Have you ever played the game Carnage Heart? You got to program the AI for these robots and then when they got ino fights ith other robots they oly did what you programmed them to. That would be kinda kool for monster rancher battles. Maybe as you train a monster and stuff it unlocks more moves and options to program your monsters with. But on the other hand why woud controlling your monster first hand be any different, its like you said its as if the breeder was just elling out commands like in pokemon. They are "controlling" them in a way. Also its not really that different than it is now. You still move them around to the right range and you still press a button to do a certain attack.
