I think I was in either 7th or 8th grade when my friend came over one day on the weekend. He brought FFX with him. He started playin it when we got back to my house. I'd been skeptical of the series and RPG's in general ever since I had heard of them, but when he asked me if I would like to start a new game I told him no and he said "what the heck, It can't hurt me to give it a try" so I told him "alright." He started the save so he could teach me the basics of the game and series as a whole. He played the game till about the place where sin attacks your ship on the way to Kilika (if you've ever played FFX). After that he left and let me borrow the game for a while. A week went by and I didn't even touch it, until one day, I had nothing to do so I tried playin it. I didn't think much of it until I got stuck on that boss under the water after you beat sin on that ship. After that it wasn't even abou progressing in the game anymore, it was about beating that boss (ARGHHHHHHH!!! it made me so mad). After I beat him, I got a huge sense of accomplishment out of it and decided to continue playin it. I didn't expect much until, as I got farther, the story pulled me in and wouldn't let me go. I couldn't stop playin it. about a week later I finished it at about 45 hrs. It was amazing, I had never experienced anything like it. The only regret I had was that I hadn't played it sooner and that I'd been a fool to think of RPG's as I had for so long.

Well, that's my story. FFX has spurred me into such games as Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2, FFIX, FFXII, and soon I will begin Rogue Galaxy as soon as I get enough money to buy it and it's strategy guide.

I hope you pick FFX to be in your poll!!!

I was first introduced to FF with a demo of FF VIII I wasn't into RPGs at the time so I didn't really pay it much attention. FF X is the one that got me into the series and while it is one of my all time favorite RPGs I think that the series as a whole is overrated.

well, I was in 8th grade and didn't like rpg's at all. Then I bought kingdom hearts and saw all the amazing Final Fantasy characters and wanted to see where they came from. I first touched up on FF10 and was amazed at how good it was.

FF7 was my favorite.

The first RPG I played was Phantasy Star IV when I was 10. I wanted to play another RPG so bad so my best friends brother introduced me to FFIV. I loved the game and been a fan ever since.

My favorite of the series are as follows cause I cant pick just one.

4, 6, 7, and 10 but that one had to grow on me.

My friend owned III (VI) and Mystic Quest for the SNES.  He borowwed me MQ and after that I was hooked.  I bought II (IV) and III (VI) for the SNES and never looked back.
My favorite is of course VII.  You just can't beat the materia system and the atmosphere of that game.  I'm not even into sci-fi, I'm more of a medevil fantasy fan, but VII knocked my socks off.

The first time I played a FF was long time ago. A friend of mine forced me to play FF VII. But I wasnt in RPGs, so I hated the game. A few years later, I was at a friends BD party, and one friend of mine had just bought FF VIII. He plugged the game, and we watched the intro. I was so amazed by it that a week later I was already playing it. FF VIII has become my all time favourite RPG and FF game. And Ive been playing lots of RPGs since them. But I normally have a rule before playing them, and that rule is that I have to like the pics before I play it. So if I dont like how it looks (Ex: Blue Dragon) then I automatically know Im not gonna play it.

When I was living on base, about ten years ago, I had a friend named Eric who had an older brother named Ian. They were both pretty cool and on my swim team so I would go over to their house a lot because I was too poor for a Playstation--I eventually got on of course because of them. The first game I ever remember seeing was Jumping Flash (good game) but the next one I remember was Final Fantasy VII. We would play that game for hours on end and I thought it so fascinating because the characters were so alive. I had no idea it was the first 3D RPG of its time and I also had no idea that it had one of the greatest video game music composers of all time working on it: Nobuo Uematsu. In fact, it was largely because of Nobuo's music that I remember some scenes so vividly and it is hard to translate the respect I feel to my brothers because they were not there for it. It's like listening to old Concrete Blonde or The Cranberries' albums. You remember the moment through the music. The music is like a vessel that you use to actually feel and smell where you were at and that's why Final Fantasy VII is such a big deal to me.

My friend Eric and I would play outside with his twin sister and he would want to be Zack (because he was the "Real Cloud" he said) and I would be Cloud because Cloud was always the coolest. We would run up and down the base housing with sticks and beat eachother senseless. When I eventually did get a Playstation it was around the time Final Fantasy Tactics came out (which is a close second-favorite to VII) which instilled the same sense of awe that VII had. From there, I branched off into the older Final Fantasies and worked upwards to 8, then 9 and so on. I even gave XI a shot, but that was a mistake (somehow the computer put me on Carbuncle server which doesn't exist anymore).

VII is without a doubt my favorite Final Fantasy.

My first FF game would be FFX.Got the game back in 2001 along with my ps2 because the store clerk recommended the game to me as my 1st ever ps2  game.Although I have only played 2 FF games but I'll say FFX is my favourite because the games graphic is really great along with a good storyline.

Um... I rented FF1 and thought it was cool. I got caught up in the FFVII hype and got that at launch and Tactics later on, although I had more fun with Suikoden 1 at the time. I own 1, 2, 4, 7 and 9. I used to own Tactics, and Anthology (5 and 6) and 12. I sold/traded them for various reasons. I really don't know if I have a favorite, but I do like 9 a lot; I like the way it brings the series back to the fantasy setting and the music. I do like the materia system from VII, though.

It was 1991/92 I believe when I was about 13 or 14 years old and my older brother's friend let him borrow a nintendo game called Final Fantasy and If he liked it,his friend would let him buy it for $10.00. I was curoius about it and I popped it in...found my way to Garland and thought "This is awesome" So he bought it and I beat it...In 1998,a few years after we got our first computer (1995?) I asked for Final Fantasy 7 PC for X-Mas,Played it and thought it was awesome.I soon bought a Playstation a few months later and picked up Final Fantasy 8...been a diehard fan since then. Now I can't live without it.

Favorite is Final Fantasy X

Well i was round my boyfriends one day i think it was in year 8, and i saw him playing ff9. I found the fights amazing and all the pretty animals : D. Well i asked if i could borrow it and because he was in the middle of disc two he let me borrow 10-2 instead, he thought i would find it more interesting as im a girl. The graphics took me away and each person had a unique planned out personality. I loved it, me n my boyfriend are still together its been a year :).

My favourite Final fantasy game has to be 9.

I initially wasn't into RPG's at all, much less Final Fantasy. Even with games like FF4 and FF6 when they were available on SNES, I just didn't understand them, and eventually just didn't care for them... ... until I rented Super Mario RPG. It was then that finally, things clicked and I understood how RPG's worked. After which, I got to play a lot of Chrono Trigger, and Final Fantasy 4... but each time that I tried playing FF6 at the time (this was before the internet was available to me, much less GameFAQs), I would just seem to get so lost, so I still didn't know how to play that game. But I did great with FF4. As far as the PS2 FF's, I just don't like any of them. X was horrible, X-2 was worse, XI doesn't really count, and XII I just haven't been able to get into it yet. VII was just glorious.

1997, I got a Playstation, was over at a parent's friend's house, and asked the son what was a good game to get for PSX.  He was like, "Oh!! You should try Final Fantasy VII !!"  He copied it for me and I played it...it was so good I went out and bought the real one :D  You dunno how long it took me to get past the first boss (the red scorpion)!!  It's just, the "tip" they give you in the game is phrased so unnaturaly, I ended up constantly doing the opposite :O   So FFVII's my favourite; that could be biased by how it was my first and everything, but I really loved the characters in it, and the story.  Aeris' death made me depressed for like a week (^^; ) it was the first time I saw a main character die....then my dad started giving me hong kong movies, and well...everyone dies in those (T_T)

After FFVII, I went backwards in the series, then got the new games as they came out.  You know I noticed....most people I talk to seem to have started playing with FFX.

When I was a young kid round 8 was when I first experienced FF.. I had heard of final fantasy before for the SNES but as I had a Genesis I didn't get a chance to play it and being a kid with no money didn't get that lucky but time had passed and I had gotten a playstation for christams as did my best mate and I was around his house one weekend and to our luck his uncle was visiting and had bought his games round to show us as we were new to the PS, one of those games was the Beloved FFVII, new state of the art (LOL) RPG, I chucked it in and played and 3 hours later realized it was time to go home.. I was hooked and instantly fell in love, My mum had noticed and as a gift a couple of weeks later I had a copy of my own..

Since then I have followed the series religiously and has become a passion of mine and helped me get through so many hard times as I was growing up and even now, to take me away and let me get lost within the world they create. No other game series raises above it full stop. FFVII will always be my favourite.. As for the rest well.. VIII, X and XII are all a tie I can't decide hey.. lol and as for the rest I love them all.. I even loved 10-2, just to be back in spira was good enough for me despite the charles angles theme almost lol haha..

P.S .. Sephiroth is my favourite villan fullstop... Game, Movie or Book.. anything. =P

And FFVII is my favorite!

Not a very interesting story as to how I got into Final Fantasy. I started playing Final Fantasy when the first game came out and well before I understood the concept, or even the word, genre. I was very young and I could read well beyond my age. I've always enjoyed fantasy and medieval settings and I've also also enjoyed reading. The series seemed like a perfect combination and it just happened to be a bonus that it was a great series. I was also playing Dragon Warrior back then. :) I prefer Final Fantasy 6 (FF3 on the SNES). I will still go on record and say that it is the most impressive, deep, well developed, and fun Final Fantasy ever created. The game features a large list of characters that each have their own back stories, side quests, unique personalities, and play style. The game world is massive and offers a large amount of hidden goodies. It features the most evil and amazing villain in any video game, Kefka, a man that makes Sephiroth look like a schoolyard bully. For its time it was the pinnacle of sound and visuals and still has an amazingly impressive story. Unfortunately with videogames, as the graphical qualities of games rise each generation has a harder time appreciating older games. The PS1 generation, and many people introduced to RPG's for the first time, feel that FF7 is the greatest RPG made, while the PS2 generation holds the same for FFX. No one is wrong, it is only opinion after all. :)
