The second one was probably better technically, but I like the first one more. The second one is too linear and easy. But the combat system and the presentation in the second one was a lot better so, its a hard choice.
I think II is a better game although it has some flaws. In my opinion, magic worked a lot better in the original and II had almost no plataforming or difficulty for that matter. But two had a little improved graphics, a much better plot and was a overall better experience.
I'm going to go against all your opinions and say that Kingdom Hearts 1 is better. Kingdom Hearts 2 just had too much flash in my opinion. Gameplay only required button mashing, I never needed to use spells or dodging like in the original game. It really irritated me at how incredibly easy it was to play this game. The levels aren't as big as the original Kingdom Hearts either. I was very disappointed with the sequel after LOVING the first one. Kingdom Hearts>Kingdom Hearts 2
I would say that kingdom hearts I was more of a challenge than KHII, but KHII has way better story line,fighting modes (forms and all that stuff...) and i loved fighting along with cloud! beating the rest of the organisation was also pretty cool...
Kingdom hears 1 owns the second one if you ask me. Combat downgraded big time in kingdom hearts 2 you spend more time clicking X and triangle over and over again then really fighting. The power to block is useless and all boss battle evolve spamming triangle. The story was also downgraded. The only interesting part in the whole story was just seeing Riku. You could tell this was by even the expression Sora gave out when he first found him. It's like he found his long lost girlfriend. Also every character in the game acts way more kiddy. Just look at the dialog and compare it to the first one. They act as if they all dropped 3 years or more in age from their dialog. The only improvement I see in the second one was the graphics and gummy ship. The worlds were less interesting in the second one because they were smaller and all you really did was just say ''hi'' to the characters living there and then leaving. Only interesting worlds were the newly added ones you haven't been to. But there were only like 2 new Disney worlds.
It also took more skill in the first one to beat Sephiroth because you could even beat him at level 60 if you had the skills and timing/ blocking skills. In the new one you have to be a high level and have pretty much the best equipment. Once you have that spam the CAP out of your X and triangle button.
KH is better than KH2. KH2's story was a convoluted mess with the addition of the organization XIII and nobodies, script was extremely bad and dumbed down, even the designs weren't as great. I hated the battles especially the boss battles because of all the button mashing. I despised it.
I think that for its time kingdom hearts 1 was a beter game but they both where FRIGEN SICK AS!!
having said that some of the things in 1 are still beter then 2 such as the gummi ship system i think they stuffed that one up in 2, i mean it was so good in 1,and i didnt like it how you had to keep going back to the worlds time and time again that sort of annoyed me because you had to do them in short bersts, it was beter doing it in one big go like 1, but then again i'd have to say that some things in 2 were so much beter then 1 like the forms, THE DISNEY CASTLE!!!! witch just totaly toped the lot for me, and the fact that u could dule weild!! but it anoyyed me how you had to level your form just to get high jump and glide and stuff so that kinda sucked.
even tho 1 was beter for its time i'd have to say that right now they are about equal for me.
But i swear i didnt know what was goin at the beginning......had me so confused

i guess that means you skipped KH:CoM like so many others.
For me i liked KH2 more because there where more final fantasy charaters in the story and i loved watching cloud and squall fighting the heartless together, and also you could skip the movies if you had watched them once allready (for some reason i had problems with the guy with the guitar)

I agree with all of this, and would like to add that all the Disney lands was such worthless time filler until the ending of the game... it felt so pointless going to these places, and when you do, all you do is follow the same exact storyline and events of the movies... plus each land had a pattern, so they got old and predictable...
Both are great. One was simple and started the series, so it was more original, new, and again simple. The second had more added to it and was a great continuation of the story, but I wouldn't recommend someone playing it before the first one. I had enough trouble trying to figure out what was going on even though I played in order (however not playing Chain of Memories had a part in that, but playing KH1 is good enough). I like them both so it's hard for me to decide which is better over the other.
