What is the best racing game for the ps2?

I wanted to pick up a good racing game for the ps2, preferbly street racing and I was thinking about Midnight Club 3 or the Need for Speed Undergroung series

Agreed. My favourites out of the two series are Need for Speed Underground 2, Most Wanted and Burnout 3 Takedown

I would have to say Gran Turismo 4 is the best simulation, but underground is the best street one

but which one is better? GT3 A-spec or GT4? i don't mind inferior graphics; what i'm looking for is depth, realism, and better AI. please advise.

the burnout series are the best racing games on the ps2. period. fast paced highly chalenging. and with great crash effects. i highyl recomend them to anyone with a ps2 even if you arent into racing games theyre still great games. :)

Any of the Burnout games from 3 and above or NFS Underground or Underground 2. Beyond those underground games the racers seem to have jet propelled engines when ever you get in-front and can bet the land speed record easily.

Definately gran turismo 4, need for speed underground 1 or need for speed most wanted dont get carbon or underground 2 or not even pro street they all suck. i had the choice of any of them and i got underground 1. (oh and they were out of most wanted stock :( )

Midnight Club, Need for Speed and Burnout games are atrociously bad.

Definitely go with Gran Turismo 3 or 4, but if you refuse to go with a "true racing sim" type game, I find Ridge Racer to be the best of the rest personally.
