Mine would have to be either the very first one, way back from 1996, just because it has a stupidly great feel and atmosphere, with great levels and a ludicrously addictive puzzle set, making it WAY ahead of it's time, and even playable nowadays.

I also love the level editor on PC, i'm not a maker, but the vary and customisation of all the level, each basically a new game, gives it so much depth and a never-ending appeal, and is still going strong to this day.

Any opinions? Would also like to hear if you don't like Tomb Raider, and you better give a valid reason:P.

The pc version had a level editor?? Thats one of the things I thought the new ones should have. Let you use all kinds of crazy obstacles to make your own home gym in lara's mansion.. Anyways I love legends and anniversary. They are beautiful graphically and have excellent controls unlike the previous ones. I never finished the first 3-4 because I would get stuck and couldnt figure out how to progress. Anyways I cant wait for the future of TR games. Legends and Anni. suffer from a real lack of replay value though. Time trials and higher difficulties are extremely cheap ways to get replay values. I'd like to see a much deeper unlockable system. I'd like to go tomb raiding for money that you would use to buy all kinds of crap.

I think the level designs are what limit the game. Instead of making stages in a linear path, they should be HUGE 3d environments with tons of gymnastical crap involved and each time you enter a stage or whatever the goals would be placed randomly. Then your looking at damn near infinite replay.

I agree with the environment comment. So do some of the peeps who make the levels.

P.S, here is a link to a site with links to the level editor and levels, enjoy http://www.tombraiders.net/stella/trle.html

Never really been a fan of Tomb Raider games. Played the first one, didn't like it. Then the second and third was pretty okay, but lost interest. After that, all of the Tomb Raider games were absolute garbage.

Until Legends showed up of course, which was surprisingly.... good.

From the psone era my favorite one was TR3 because IMO it was the most balanced gameplay wise plus it combined elements from the previous games like the T-rex from TR1 and the huge environments from TR2. But out of them all, i'd have to say it's TR: anniversary, because it's everything i wished the first one to be.

With risk of being standing against my opinoin(first parts are 90% the best one exept for mgs-the second one beats it)and once again the SECOND one is my favourite followed immediately by Tomb Raider 4.(also tomb raider 2 is one of my top 5 games of all time).
