They are both really good games however i felt that X was just more epic and had a better replay value. It also depends what u like if you want the traditional RPG Final Fantasy style X is what you want but if you think you will enjoy the more action based RPG then you should definately check out 12. X's storyline was just phenominal while 12 seemed to be lacking slightly but thats just my opinion. I still loved 12 though, but X is probably my favorite game of all time. If I were you I would buy X beat it then buy XII and beat that :D.
I've only just started playing FFXII. And all I can tell you right now that in terms of gameplay, it is not a turn-based RPG game like the FFX and other previous versions. Can I call it real-time strategy RPG?...... Hmmm..... Not sure, but lots of people have different opinions about this game. You're better off trying it out yourself. Or you can check out video clips on how the game is played on youtube. I'm going to finish this game but I still prefer turn-based RPG, so I say FFX is worth buying. Comparing overall graphics & layout, I say FFXII (although CG scenes are fantastic & better than FFX)is onlya bit better than FFX.

absolutely FFX, better story, game-play and the cinematics, i got also bored with FFXII, you go to one place and another, and there all the same!!, and the story seems interesting if your fan of medieval wars!!, try X for now.
FFXII story is about politics so if you hate politics dont play it,FFX sucked for me since Tidus is prolly the worst main character ever while the supporting cast is alright but I just wanted to punch the person who made tidus in the face.
depends what you want...if you want an epic, fasinating story then 10 is your ff...while if you want good gameplay and an overall enjoyable gaming experience 12 is for you...not to say 10 wasn't great aswell in the gameplay section
FFX for story.... Has a lot of cutscenes.... has as much story as it has actual gameplay. Light on the sidequest, heavy on the shoehorn, full of emotional, storytelling.
FFXII has a whole lot of sidequest type gameplay. it's weak on characer developement.... and has a much greater gameplay to story ratio. If you try to complete everything... unlocking the main story will be fractions of your hours put into the game. But if you like a rollercoaster story, you'll most like grow bored, before you finish it.
FFX because its worth playing . not FF12 because some of its fights are toooo difficult . its the only game i had played and not endedhitmanmustlive
LOL you were struggling on some of the boss fights in FF12? Roflolmao FF12 is the easist FF game ever lol. Maybe your equipment was ungraded and your level is too low lol.
Anyway, get FFX if you want a really good story, good gameplay with good replayability, easy to level up, etc...
And i guess the only reason to get FF12 is their voice vialouge.... i think lol
I think FFXII, has great characters, side quests, battle play and storyline. Ten has a good story line, but i think the graphics and detailing in 12 is better and you also don't have Tidus's annoying voice. Personally i didn't find 12 as difficult as 10, also sometimes when playing 10 i wouldn't be into the story enough to have the determination to defeat a certain boss as i did in 12. Both have sequals (the sequal to 12, revenant wings is due next year in the UK) so if you really get into either one there's a chance you'll be tempted to buy the follow up of it. Though if you can, buy both!

Being a normal human being I was throuroughly offended by X's story. Am I supposed to feel for these bastards? How can I when this SMUT is filled with drown out cliches? I wanted to break the disc in half after seing that terrible ending. Its a prime example of why the Japanese can't make a real RPG even if their life depended on it. It's also extremely linear, painfully easy, has bad side quests, and IS VERY SHORT. XII's story is your generic political drama, but you know what? It's still a better story than what X told. You also have HUGE expansive worlds, tons of bestiary to kill, better graphics, tons of side quests and other distractions, and a fun combat system. XII is the thinking man's Final Fantasy, X is for the phonies.

are u honestly bashing one of the single greatest final fantasies? and X isnt short, side quests arent that horrible, gets harder near the end, some people like linear. and the japanese created and make the best rpg's.....so idk what u mean by the japanese not making good rpg's
but to the TC i say go with ffx, i think it was an overall better game that 12, but 12 is close behind.
Actually, the Japanese stole RPGs from the West and simplified them to run on traditionally weaker consoles. Lately, influence from another Western mutation, anime, have had their awful influence on the genre. Real RPGs are those socially questionable Dungeons and Dragons stuff.
Final Fantasy X was my favorite game last gen so.... yeah I would recommend that. The story and characters in that game are all great. Also the game play has a very good feel to it and you never feel any of your characters are useless. My only quibbel was that the Aeon's were a littel to overpowering making some of the boss fight's on the easy side.
I played Final Fantasy Xii for 20 hours and just gave up on it. Hated the Gambit system and the license board. Also the story just didn't grab my attention, at the end of the day I just kind of abandoned that game.
