When do you plan to upgrade to a next generation console?

Obviously, do not vote if you already have one. And if you vote, please tell me which you are planning to upgrade too (judging from this point). I'm just curious, the PS2 is still going to get support for quite some time (the PS1's last game was a 2005 Fifa Soccer game!", and even Sony is still giving it some games (god of war 2, hot shots tennis, 2 BUZZ games, 2 singstar games, Wild ARMS 5, NBA 08', and a port of Syphon Filter Dark Mirror (it played really well on the PSP, I can't wait to see it with dual analog). The PS2 is also getting 3rd party stuff, like Madden 08, the next crash game (even though they suck compared to the naughty dog ones), the next spyro game (even thoughthey suck compared to the Insomniac ones),various other EA sport crap, Guitar Hero 3, and others. The PS2 has had a good run...but all things must end. The PS1 lasted over 11 years, and the PS2 is going to last even longer (larger userbase, still outselling the PS3/360).

Anyway, what do you plan on upgrading to? Obviously, if you had a PS2, it's pretty likely that you liked alot of Sony's games (Sly Cooper, Ratchet and Clank, jak and Daxter, SOCOM, wipeout, Gran turismo, hot shots golf, god of war, and alot of others), along with alot of 3rd party exclusives (kingdom hearts, final fantasy, MGS, and more).

But, on the otherhand, the price of the PS3 might be scaring you a bit. And the cheap-and fun wii might be tempting. Or the cheaper-but still sort of expensive, 360 might be calling you.

My advice? Wait it out a littlebit. There are probably ALOT of PS2 games you haven't played, and they're cheaper than next gen games, and you can find them easily enough. This fall is when the MUST HAVE games for all 3 systems start to come out, and (in most people's opinions), the PS3 has an even stronger lineup for 2008. The prices will drop for all 3 of them, games will start to become greatest hits, etc.

I don't have that much money but if I did I'd get aX-Box 360. So, maybe one day I might get a X-Box 360 but I'm definately gonna get the next-next generation console, you know, maybe a ps4 or X-Box Revolution or Nintendo's next console. I do this with handhelds to. I got a gameboy colour then waited for 2 generations and gota Nintendo DS. I had N64 and got a PS2 4 years later.

The main reason I dont want the new next gen yet is because it requires too much upgrading. In order to play the games the way they need to be played (in hi-def with digital sound and picture, no doubt IMO), its just going to be awhile before I have HDTV and all the cables and hook-ups. I know I dont need it just play it, but I dont want to play the next gen consoles unless they really look next gen, and it wont with the set-up I have at home right now.

in other words, i need a FEW grand to upgrade. Meanwhile, Ill stick it out with my ps2...

i have an Xbox360, but i want to get a PS3 in 2008. looking forawrd to FFXIII mostly. interested to see how it turns out.

When MGS4 comes out this 2008, there's no holding back! I'm gonna buy a PS3 no matter what!

i do not like the physical specifecation of the xbox 36o the hardware is low for it's price

so i don't think its a next generation

PC Games looks like **** i can't see any good games on pc most of it is FIRST PERSON SHOOTER

so dont decieve yourself the console is a the only real deal for games

then the good pc will cost you more more than you need to find a room to live with your girl look at nvidia stuff and look for the quad core prices

and for the ps3 it still in development for me yes ...the hardwares are awsome in this console but the developers need more time but it will break the 360 neck cause it will give more next generation for me

i like the PS2 and its games and it cost nothing for me as a gamer

me personnaly i would have brought a next gen console when i found one game that i really play at any cost but my cousin from the us came with a ps3 and he gonna live here for at least 3-4 years . so technically i already upgrade without effort or money spent

Nope,I have a crappy TV just plugged into my (beasty) stereo and my PS3.You don't need to upgrade your home theatre,but if you can afford it,it makes the experience better...but it doesn't really matter.

I will find a job then I will get Wii, and Playstation 3.

I will upgrade Nintendo DS Lite which it will be added to my second Nintendo DS (I own Mario Kart edition DS). And I will get Sony PSP.
