You can find the PS2 version on amazon pretty easily, its very expensive to buy new though (around $100). Best buy is still selling the PC version for about $30.
FFXI is completely ONLINE. Its an MMORPG. If you didnt know that already. and yes im sure you can raise chocobo in it, i dont know this for sure, since ive never played it, but yeah. its an online game.
it sucks to pay monthly fee's but the great thing about mmorpg's is that you get to make lots of friends and the content changes.  New things get added constantly unlike offline games.  Thats why it comes with a harddrive. Â
I've never played FF11 though and i dont really care to.  If you want mmorpgs you should try:
World of Warcraft, Asherons Call, City of Heros/Villians, EVE Online.Â
you cant blame final fantasy for trying to take its successful formula and try to use it to make money off of the highly lucrative MMO ideas. so far as i know, its ok, but if you want a good FF, play the ps1 or other ps2 games, and if you have, try rogue galaxy
I suggest you to make a little research, I heard that the FFXI servers are shutting down ala Snake Eaters servers, look thats the crapy side of the MMORPG.
I can play my Metal Gear Solid in 5 years and its going to be there, but you will not be able to enjoy de multiplayer in MGS3 from this april fordward.
And what is going to happen whit all the money that you paid online? just memories in your brain.
There are like one or two crappy dungeon crawlers called Chocobo Dungeon where the main character is the chocobo, they were for the ps1. And ya the DS has another Chocobo game coming that kind sounds ok. Â
FF7 let you catch and raise chobobo's. You can get different kinds like blue, black, gold. Then you got to race them and use them to cross the terrain.Â
