I haven't dived into this series ever and I keep hearing people say that FFX is the best of the bunch.  Which game would you start with to get into the whole FF adventure.  And I don't own a nintendo, so please don't say FF 1.

Your opinions?

Final Fantasy 7 got me started.  It probably is the most popular one, look at all of the spinoffs and the movie.  It was a very good game.

FFX is probably the easiest recent final fantasy, so you may wanna start there. Though ff7 is arguably the best out made, and its not too difficult unless you fight  this certain boss......that has emerald in its name.

Whatever you do dont start off with FFVII OR XII, Far too complicated for someone who has never played a final fantasy game. Try VII, as it got me addicted or IX which was the easiest to pick up and play. FFX would be a good pick as well.

I'll vote FFVII.  It's a great blend of the old and the new -- a good transitional game.

I'd say FFX would be the best to start off with. Many people say FFVII would be the best, and in a way it would be the best, but the fact that it could be very complicating for a newcomer to the series makes it not such a good beginner. FFX's story is much more emotional and impacting because of the graphics and voice acting and the sphere grid is more user friendly than the materia system in FFVII. I started with FFX and it effected enough to plunge deeper into the RPG world than I ever did before. Start with FFX, you won't regret it.

FFVII is my personal favourite but X would be a good one to start off with...if not IX because it's relatively easy to beat.

I started at FFX, I think you should start at either FF7 or FFX. I have never played FF7 but I have heard so many good things about it. Either FFX or FF7 Would be great but they both might be hard to find (especially FF7)

For PS2, FFX. For PS1, FFIX. For DS, FFVI.
FFVI is my favorite of all time. If you want good graphic than try FFX. FFIX is also really good, but it's a PS1 graphic.

Part 9 perfectly blends the old with the new. It's also very intuitive and not complex, without being too linear and obnoxious (hello 10!). 7 and 10 is for the fanboys and girls who think that these are the highlights of the series.

If you're graphics sensitive, start with FFX. If you don't give a damn what stuff looks like, go with FFVII. Those two were easily the most memorable IMO. Many people claim that FFVI was the best ever, but it didn't do much for me. FFVIII and FFIX were decent, but not amazing. FFX-2 made me want to kill myself. FFXI isn't really a Final Fantasy game. FFXII seems decent, but I've only played about 10 hours worth of it, so I can't give a really good opinion on it yet.

I am definitely going to grab X if most of you think it is a decent game, mainly because I just saw it yesterday at gamecrazy for about $8.

What system is VII on?  Is that a PS1 or an early PS2?

if you don't mind outdated graphics, then definitely go for 7. otherwise, do 6, or 9. they're both a nice balance. x has a tendency to either make people LOVE ff or make people HATE ff. so i wouldn't say it makes a good first game for the series.

I'd go with FF VII. It had some of the best systems in the entire series IMHO. Materia were so cool. It's also got a great gee whiz factor - I bought my first console since the Atari 2600 just to play this game! (Mind you this was 'gee whiz!' in the 90s - not so much today.) I suppose FF X is arguably easier, but the grid system kind of put me off. Both are great though and should be played.

Well I started out with FFVIII (8), and I thought it was one of the most well developed game of the series, but if your're looking for one for the Ps2 then for sure go with FFX or FFXII, those are awesome games, best RPG's out there right now, just don't play FFX-2 pretty low grade Final Fantasy in my opinion.

i can only say wot every1 else is sayin, if u are sensitive to graphics then dont go for ffvii despite its incredible story, go with ffx, its a really good game and i really got drawn into it.id say ffxii considerin its the 1 im playin at the mo, but thats so different to the others of the series that im not sure it would give u an idea of wot the series is about, start with ffx in my opinion then go play ffvii, this is wot my m8 did, he said that hed seen his bro play ffx and he didnt think hed like it, then i convinced him to play it and he was on it all day every day, wouldnt come out to play footy with us, now its his favourite game ever. although most people will say that if ffvii ever gets remade with better graphics and voice actin, then it will be thier favourite( if it isnt already) cos these are wot most people regard as its only down points lookin back on it now.and a remake is a constant rumor these days, i say play ffx and wait to see if the rumor ever matearialises into anythin.

Nothing in 7 is remotely difficult. By the time things start getting hard you have access to chocobos and the airship and it only takes about 3 or 4 game hours to get all the materia and KotR. There are literally materia combinations that make it impossible to die.

best thing about final fantasy series is that no 2 episodes are in anyway related to each other... FF8 got me hooked into series... but like u have heard most of the people said it before, go with 7 AS LONG you dont mind outdated graphics... FF7 and FF8 are hard, IMO... FF10 and FF10/2 are easy...

yeah vii it is. Its the game that first got me playing for like 10 hours straight. And yes in vii and viii it is possible to be invincible. but by then there will be little to complete. However there is some cheap thrills to be had beating bosses that seemed impossible early on in one hit. That massive snake in the marsh of vii comes to mind. i thought id never get him, and after 20 hours or so he was so mine. Cloud with one hit and i killed him outright with like a 10000 hp strike. thatll teach him to hiss at me and stop me cutting hours off my gameplay and forcing me to get a chokobo. Basta_rd

Final Fantasy XII is a lot I mean a lot better than Final Fantasy X. FFXII is harder funner and is a way longer game. It's a little hard so you may want to start with FFX. Also FFX is cheaper. So it's up to you.

I do own FFVII, but I had hardly played it cuz of the somewhat outdated graphics, although I dont mind old graphics, but since I had started out FFVIII it is more graphically enhanced than 7 and thats probably why I really cant agree with most people saying to start out with FFVII since I had hardly played it, too bad, I hear it is a really good FF, one of the best, I just really cant get going to play it.

I think everyone is crazy... Start early... Final Fantasy 2/4 or 3/6 I prefer those two because if you are a True rpg fan start there... then work your way up... but whatever you do dont start with X-2.... -shoots self- its a horrible game. But if you are just getting into rpgs you can try Final Fantasy XII I enjoy it alot as well... although all the games are decent except 10-2

Yeah, thats true they really did screw up with FFx-2, were they just in a hurry to put another FF game out there or what? There was almost nothing I really found good bout it, the worst thing was that they screwed blitz ball all up by making the com take control of the players, I loved that game back in FFX., but other than that if you want a deep storyline and pretty good gameplay I still say start off with FFX, I should althoguh really try and get to playing the first ones, only played 7 and up.

Start with VII, good luck finding it though.
