which game is better FF XII or GOW?

Your right they are apples and oranges.  So if you were starving and had an apple and an orange in front of you which would you choose.  GOW is the apple, FFXII the orange.  FFXII you have to peel the skin, but is very refreshing in the middle.  GOW you can bit right away and enjoy.  I started playing GOW but I have an older version PS2 and there is a glitch so I cannot contiue with the games.  sucks for me. So I choose the orange. Very sweet and tasty.

Yes. Have you played God of War? This is not just a mindless action game where you hack things to pieces or a gorefest as someone above tried to belittle it.

Kratos is a true anti-hero and his story is well told and well paced throughout the game. At first he may seem shallow, but as you go on you see the true reason for his rage and that there is a part of him in every strike he makes. There is also sorrow. He fights not for the sake of fighting, or even for revenge, but for hope.

RPGs are not inherently better than action games as some people would have you believe. Storylines aren't what make games fun to play. I've played several games with great storylines but gameplay that couldn't cut it. (Rule of Rose is the best example) and I've played my fair share of crappy RPGS that get way too much credit.

Simple fact is that there is a lot more to God of War than blood and gore, and (mistakenly) button mashing controls.

I say, play what you're in the mood for.  Want fast paced action? Play GoW.  Want something slower and bigger to sink your teeth into?  Play XII.

Personally, I own both and like both for what they are... Great games.

First: There's a reason cliches are cliche. They work. Aslo, the game pays homage to Greek mythology if you didn't notice. Like Kratos killing is family by mistake. That might seem cliche to you , but its a reference to Hercules going crazy and doing the same thing in mythology.

Second: Maybe it is overated, but its hardly garbage, and to call it garbage with some of the crap that is out there today invalidates your opinion.
