Which is the longest final fantasy title in the series as of yet?!

i am told its ff9, currently i am in ff8 disc 3, ff9 disc 3, and come to known a fact that disc 4 in ff8 is really short.

from my experience so far which is personal ofcourse, i first played ff6 in the series, which i thought then as the biggest game played by me, ofcourse it was without a FAQ for the most of the time, but now i think it too was not that BIG, and i do not like short games as it leaves a bitter taste in mouth after finishing it. i have recently played dw7 and discontinued in disc 2 cause i got bored of it, i hope i have not made a mistake, disc one was long indeed.

i am just curious and want to know which is the longest in the series, and since i am limited to ps one only i am unsure about ps2 final fantasy titles. thanks in advance.

yes i think someone at gamefaqs.com did told me the same, but overall if one knows everything what do to and where to go, without doing the anything extra, which would be the longest?!, i think mostly a ps2 title!GrandSlasher26

In that case it would proubly be FFXII.

XII was the longest for me, clocking it at 90 hours to completion.  VII and VIII are the only other FF games that even came close, clocking it at 81 and 79 hours.  Mind you, that's not fully completing these games, that's just finishing them when I felt the time was right.  I could have easily spent more time with them.

X was by far, the shortest FF for me.

Ignore XI then -_- you cannot count it as it doesn't allow you to further a story in the way a traditional final fantasy game does or even any game does. I have not played XII yet (got it preordered for Euro release in 10 days YAY) so the longest for me was either X-2 (long but still not that good of a game, only good for battle system and nostalgea sp?) or IX but that is because i never rush through games, ffx-2 had around 40 hours on it for me and IX has 70 on mine at the moment (it can however be done in around 30)MrNemesis

i agree with mrnemesis that since ff11 is an online title it should not be counted here. i am currently trying out all the ps one titles.

overall my first thoughts after playing ff7 disc1, ff8 disc 3 (just started and stucked as to where the white ship is) and ff9 disc 3(more than 2 hours now) were that perhaps ff8 would be the biggest, but then i thought ff9 and now i think that since it took some time with first disc then ff7 could be the biggest as well and i hope disc 2 is big as well.

but looking at the answers most of them suggests ff12 so i think that would be the longest of them all.

so for ps1 it could be ff9 or ff7 and for ps2 probably ff12.

its also true that overall it depends on one's skill, but  still a long game is long. i hate great but short games such as vagrant story for ps1 and promised land for GBA, its leaves a bitter taste in mouth.

can't wait to get rich and buy a ps3 and finish the tons of ps2 goodies even if it takes more then a year i will first finish all the great ps2 titles.:roll:

You can't judge how long a game is based on how many disks it came with. You don't know how many of those codes are in game FMVs and cinemas, and how many are actual game play and engines codes.

And you certainly can't judge how long a game is based on how long it took you actually to finish it. everyone has a different pace, some do side quests, others don't; few tasks feel easy to some, while others feel hard.
