I agree with the kingdom hearts series. I've only played KH2 but it has a compelling and exciting storyline. I would also recommend Persona 3. It's captivating and will keep you playing for a long time. Great characters and a good story. Dragon Quest 8 is another of my favorites. Good story, epic game.
Tales of the Abyss, if story is what you are looking for, then you shouldn't skip this game. It's HUGE and there are plenty of plot twist along the way, plus the characters are really funny and very well developed. The downside is that it does take a while to pick up but once it does, it never stops.
I think the most epic game ever is hands down...... .Hack. Especially if you play through the first series (R1) and the GU series (R2). Well over 250-300+ hours of just normal gameplay.
All of them have excellent storylines and each is plenty of fun.3KindgomsRandy
I'll co-sign that list. Especially Suikoden III. I clocked in 110+ hours on that. Finding all 108 characters was a must for me. I would also like to mention Dark Cloud 2. It had a very interesting storyline. I clocked in 100 hours on that.
