[QUOTE="addictedtochaos"]Get Tales of the Abyss, FF XII isn't very good. 2ndWonder
have you even played FFXII, how can you say its not good
Yes I own and have played FF XII, and I stand by my statement. I've never played Tales of the Abyss but I'm sure it is better than FF XII.

...LOLand have u guys played both FFXII and tales of the abyss?  i dont want opinions from people who have only played one of the gamesstrat505
Are you looking for people to tell you what to buy? You're obviously going to get different opinions here. Some hate XII so much that they'll constantly make a point to let you know they do. Others love it.
I say, be a little open minded and try both games for your self. Both games can be fast paced, one more than the other. Both are fun imo.
Get FFXII if you're into deep, political and serious stories. Also get it if you like beautifully animated CG scenes that the FF series is famous for. Graphics are pretty good for a PS2 game as well.
If you'd like a somewhat light-hearted, yet serious-enough game, get Tales of the Abyss. The graphics aren't as good as FFXII, but it will do.The CG scenes are hand-drawn, really beautiful if you like that kind of art. The soundtracks... hmm, depends on what you really like. Neither really caught me up in a whirlwind, but by no means were they bad. A few tracks from both were pretty good.
Voice acting for both games were good, I'd say they're both as frustrating if you don't like traversing large, even huge maps. Tales of the Abyss can get you lost easily; FFXII may be a little better because it has a more detailed map, but it's still a pain sometimes.
Hope that helped.
Do you think I'm an idiot? You just asked me if I'm looking for people to tell me what to buy. Did you see the post i put? Did you see where it says SHOULD I BUY?? Do you think I don't expect opinions? It's called "influence". Im not going to listen to the opinions of peopel who have only played one game. And if i were "open minded" as you call it, and were going to try both games, do you think i would have made this post? Sorry, but I don't have acess both games like you, which is why i made this post. strat505No, I don't think you're an idiot. When I said open minded, I was refering to those here that are quite closed minded towards one or the other and that both are worth a try. Sorry if my post offended you. Good luck deciding on what to buy.Â
what makes DQ8 such a great game? personally i dont like the whole dragonball look, although that of course isn't a good reason to not like a game. anyways, i tried a FFXII demo at my friends house today, i beat the first thing with vaan and it was alright, and the second one got really boring cuz i couldn't find what i was supposed to kill, and the gameplay wasn't very exciting. is tales any better? strat505It's not the graphical style... I think DQ8 is THE perfect RPG... it has great character development, a great sense of humor, classic battle style, extremely good variety of side quests... DQ8 = the perfect RPG

to everyone that thinks FFXII is great, why do you like it? i played the demo and found the battle system somewhat boring, of course which is my opinion. what do you like about FFXII that u think its so good?strat505i thought it was boreing at first...but it gets a lot better futher into the game. you really have to worry about what you and your characters are doing. escpecially during boss battles, your always running around healing your guys. its frantic. the battle system in that game is like the story, slow at first but gets faster farther through.
