Me. IMO it's a waste of money to buy 2 or more.

Currently I own 4 consoles:

NES (Family Computer)
SNES (I forgot what it's called..it's the gray, purple, and lavander)
PS1
PS2

Did I missed a gen?

Saying that only fanboys buy one console per gen is about as accurate as saying only wasters with more money than sense buy more than one console per gen. I buy whichever console looks to have the best line up of games IMO, or has a certain something that I like (in the case of the Wii controller, something the world seems to like).

I bought my PS2 a year after it's release because of the price and what not, but not too sure about the PS3, I'll probably have to wait another year lol.

I'm satisfied with what the console I own can offer. I don't want to spend money just to play many games.

If the money was not a issue I'd love to have more then one console, however things are not so easy.

Personally I have to worry about many things, my bills, rent, food, insurance, family needs and so on..

One console per generation does it for me.

Well I'm probably no the best study for this but, I usually own more than one console per gen. But I use to buy my games and consoles at flea market's at dirt cheap prices.

I was just getting my Atari when the Genesis and SNES were released. After I was tired of my Atari, I moved on to Nintendo and bought it for 20 bucks at a yard sale. After the Nintendo I moved on to Super Nintendo and Genesis, bought both of those for Sixty bucks at a flea market. Same story with the N64 and the PS1

I really didn't start buying consoles at full price till this current gen with the Wii and 360.

I have always kept a good eye out for a decent flea market in the uk but never could find one. And that is why I never owned more than one console.

I used to buy one console per gen. I realised how much i've missed so i might buy all consoles this gen. I bought the Wii and i might buy the 360 or the PS3 later on.

And who do you leech off of to get something to eat? Yes you have money but if you spend it all on gaming then you fail to see other more important expenses that life throws at you.

Next gen, after 360/PS3, I'll probably only get 1 console (Focusing mostly on PC games, and than console).

Halo is history since the Bungie split, and there isn't a reason to get two consoles next gen at this point... unless Microsoft buys out Square, than Sony can just give up completely.

As it stands, its still worth it to have a PS3 if you're into Final Fantasy. However, owning a 360 is a must this gen.

I usually buy one console per generation as I can't afford to buy more than one console at a time, and I don't have much time to play games anyway and i am more of a casual gamer.

Me me me!

I've had a PS1, and only in 2004, a PS2, and I've been really happy with the times spent on both.
I decided to take the leap of faith and get a PS3 early this time. I have no interest in Halo, or the other fps' on the xbox, im tired of fps' frankly, and no, that does not make me a fanboy.

I feel i only need the PS3 in this gen, as firstly i don't have time to play many games anymore, secondly gaming is an expensive hobby, and thirdly if i had 3 consoles I think i just wouldn't enjoy my games as much as I'd be splitting my time across all three all the time. So from the upcoming games I think i made the right choice with the PS3.

And when next-next-gen comes,I will only get one console, whatever it may be.. If the PS3 really comes back and wins the console war (stupid war imo..) I will probably get a PS4 early too, as I haven't been disappointed by Sony yet.

Yeah I got lucky. This place called Flea Market World (move over Disney world), was an hour walk from where I lived. That place was like the ultimate geek kingdom. Buy Starwars action figures for 2 bucks, Old 70 and 80 comic books for 50 cent's, video game only cost five bucks, they even had an arcade.... ahh good times.

It doesn't matter if I miss way too much, those areonly games. 1 console already has too much games to satisfy me. No need for another one. There are only a few games that are available in 1 console.

I used to do that, but once I started getting some income, there were too many games to ignore on other consoles. I would usually get one console early on and wait for the competitors to drop prices on both games and consoles. I got my Gamecube in 2002 and my Xbox and Playstation 2 in 2005. However, for some reason, I decided to get all three successor consoles soon.

I always tell people to get a secondary one just in case. I know people aren't made of money, but for everyone else having 2 or more consoles is a good way to experience a lot of gaming. You'd be surprised what games you find. I thought the only Playstation 2 games that would interest me were the Metal Gear Solid games, but now I have as many Playstation 2 games as I do Gamecube. Same for Xbox. I haven't played through all of them, but I intendo to. I have accepted that gaming is my premier hobby and though I have other interests, I don't mind having the majorit of my money going into gaming. I understand some of you may not see that, but that is ok. We all have different priorities.

I only get one console because my brother gets another one so go figure. But he no longer lives with me and with my new very busy schedule at work, I've no time for home consoles. Just computer and my PSP.

Well I owned an Xbox, PS2, and GCube at one point.

This gen I doubt I'll get any more than one. I'm happy with my 360 and don't plan on getting a Wii or PS3 anytime soon

No, personally i think that it shouldn't matter when you buy your console. I think that it is more of a matter of what games it has to offer and that It's not too pricey (like earlier said). Now, I am a loyal Sony fan and have always supported the console even since the original Playstation look at the PS3, it's a waste. It is way over priced for games that are not worth paying for. It was released way too late and it doesn't have any major bonuses. So unless they bring out one killer PS4 (good luck with that) i think sony is going to die out and sell no more consoles.

I think anyone that buys 2 or more of this gen's consoles already is either just rich, or wasting their time and money. Most of the awesome games come out on either 360 or ps3, and their are the exclusives like halo 3, haze, gow3, or whatever...but thats what you consider before you buy the first console...

I do not, I had a PS1 and a N64 (thought I got it alot later). Last gen I only bought a PS2 because I didn't want a Xbox (no games interested me) or a Gamecube because there were only a few games that I wanted on that. So far, I have a Wii but I plan on buying a PS3.

I did until 6th gen.
Ihad NES, SNES, PS1, Gamecube for 3yrs.. and just this month I got a PS2.
I will not buy a 7th gen console until the price of the systems are $130 and below. (which won't be for another 5 or 6 years).

Not really. It's not the Hardware or buying multiple consoles that cost's you, it's the games. If you spend 50 or 60 dollars for videogames, then yes your spending way to much money on videogames. I however rarely pay full price for games. That's the only reason why I'm holding out on the PS3, not because of the price of the console but the price of the games. I only pick up games once they hit the 25 dollar mark, and that saves quite a bit of money.

Also even though I own a 360 and Wii, I have been buying alot more Xbox and GameCube games just based on the fact that those games range from 5 to 10 dollars, and quite a bit of them are just as good as there next gen competitors.

My budget only allows me to buy one Next-Gen console, but it seems that neither 3 of them can offer me what I want.
