I had a fatty buy I sold it to a coworker for $100 last year and picked up the slim. The old one was having weird noises with the tray loader. I warned the buyer about it but they went along with it anyways.
I love the slim. It's so.... slim. The only downside to it is the lack of HardDrive support. But I never had the HardDrive anyways, and have no interest in getting one for the PS2.
I've had the same PS2 since launch and have never had a problem with it. I think the PS2 last longer if you dont use it as a DVD player. Not sure if thats true for everyone but thats been my experience. dmbrown58
It does seem that way, I rarely use it for DVD now and this particular one has lasted pretty long.
Had mine since 2000 and it still works great. Never once used it as a DVD player (already had a DVD player back then). I remember the guy at EB trying to get me to buy the extended warranty on it, telling me how likely the thing was to break. I just kinda laughed at him.
My Xbox, on the other hand, was dead within a year. 3rd player controller port died first, then the DVD drive went after that. Guess I should have gotten the extended warranty on that one.
I have both cause i forgot the password on the original so i bought a slim since i couldn't play god of war 2
But the slim overheats to easily DX I should of gotten an original ps2
I only use the slim during the winter
I love my fatty PS2, it has worked flawlessly for 6+ years. Unless it dies on me, I have no plans of getting a slim.amemonii
Same for me. I remember getting GTA 3 with it.:)
Im glad that there are people out there who take care of their PS2's. Many people (not everyone) who breaks there PS2's break it because of carelessness. I know some of my friends that do. I STILL have my fatty, (though its reaching its limit) and I have taken great care of it.
Many people buy the prize horse, shoot it, and then complain that it doesnt run properly. I hate that.
Glad to see some fatty's still alive out there.
