I think the question is, why not?rocklegacy2
Yeah. What the hell? Why would you WANT them to drop all support for their old consoles as soon as the new ones are out? That's just retarded. Almost as retarded as this thread in general.
I'm gonna get flamed for saying this but it's probably because the PS3 isn't doing very well. Sony's recognised this so they are trying to scrape as much money together as possible.zael99
Flames, flames!! I'm just joking ;) I think you're not right, it's just a matter of success. If Ps2 still sells, why stop supporting it? Moreover, PS1 was also selling after PS2 release, it happens the same, now. It's true that PS3 hadn't a so good beginning, and that Ps2 incomes help, but this is NOT the main reason for Sony to keep selling Ps2, it's just what I've already said, its success.

Masculine pronouns are gender inclusive. So it means little. Especially since "fanboy" is already the chosen pejorative for identifying console fanatics.
good question but why not? might as well make money on both systems and besides it wouldnt really be fair to just CUT of the PS2 like that. not everyone is gonna get a PS3 right away ya know.
and btw...when ARE they gonna stop producing PS2 games anyways?!

Zing.:P
The ps2 has the most exclusive rpg titles than any other console and the fact that has lasted 7 years is saying something.
I think PS2 still live because:
1. It's cheap
2. Cheap doesn't mean bad (there are many BIG titles on this console)
3. People still play it and enjoy it VERY much (look at me and my collection xDDD)
4. Not everyone has enough money to buy new console and games for it (me again xDD)
5. Some players wants play older versions of incoming titles like God of War III (it's history isn't complicated but worth to know)
That's what I have to say. Someone don't agree? It's your problem xDD
Sigh... another thread of the like "why PS2 if we have PS3?". Seriously...
Wanna know why? Simple, not everybody can afford to buy one right away and the ps2 has still great potencial, everybody that is rushing for the ps3 are doing only because of the graphics, and a ps3 here where i live costs 2.500 or more while a ps2 costs 500 to 800.
The PS3 is here and I just don't know why Sony is still supporting it. The same thing happened with the PS1.MegaSonicZX
Maybe they're supporting it still because a TON of people still have a PS2 as their main console, or maybe because a TON of people cannot afford a PS3 (myself included), did you ever think of that?

Exactly. PS2 and it's games are still selling because poor people like myself can't afford a PS3 yet. But that's ok...I'm still in love with my PS2 anyway. Sony knowsthey have a huge PS2 fanbase and obviously they want to keep it. It would be foolishof them to abandon a system that has made them lots and lots of money.
I think the question is, why not?rocklegacy2Bingo. Not only is it a perk to folks who haven't yet purchased a PS3 yet, but it also remains a huge cash cow for Sony. If people continue to buy both the console and the games, then why stop supporting a highly profitable system?

He/she probably not though on that, he/she is probably one of these rich boys/girls that just got a ps3 and now they can't stand to see the ps2 getting new games while their ps3 only got some games at the moment (crappy ones in my opinion).
