Devil May Cry was a very great action game although a lot of people complained about how hard it is and some complicated combos to pull off. Capcom responded to those complaints in their next Devil May Cry game and the result was something that people who were looking for a more accessible Devil May Cry game but a massive disappointment to most action afficionados who were expecting more than the first game after beating it in the most difficult level (Dante Must Die).
DMC 2 was ok in my opinion but for a number of people its the worst game ever made. Here are the pros and cons of the game.
Pros: :)
- Easy to Beat the Game and not as hard as the first one.
- Cool Devil Trigger.
- Rocket Launcher :D
Cons :(
- No Unlimited Devil Trigger even if you beat the game.
- There are no other melee weapons, you only get swords that are different in length and power. (Same Combo)
- Sword Combo sucks (no crazy combos and delay is a bit slow) and you'll probably end up using your guns for most of the game.
- Gameplay is a bit slower than the first one
- Bland Graphics.
- Game is too short.
- Weapon switching is a bit annoying because L1 is the only button you press to switch guns in game. This means you can only go forward. For example: Handgun -> Machine Gun -> Rocket Launcher
It isn't bad compared to other action games mostly. But when you compare it to DMC1, its just.... crap. Compare it to DMC3, its garbage.
For one, the story isn't even tied at all to the main story arc. Gameplay was too simple till the point of utter crap for veterans, game was too easy especially since this is a DMC game, length of the game was short and mostly theres no point in playing the game in the first place.
From a hardcore DMC fan, DMC2 was not such a bad game, but compared to the likes of DMC1 and DMC3, it was a joke.
Storyline - A very long time after DMC1, dunno when to be specific. Just some demon organisation taking over the world, trying to make the world a Demonic paradise.Dante puts a stop to it.
Gameplay - you will recieve new swords during the progression of the game, but these swords dont carry any special element like the weapons in DMC1 or DMC3. These swords are just a peace of metal, one is heavier or do more damage than another. That is all.
Graphics - well, they were alright back at the time.
Replay value - The only worthy replay value is playing with Trish. This is the only time DMC2 was fun.
overall - It deserved what it got. It was in the league of games like Bujingai(which was another decent game).
It had no story at all and main reason is because it is not the same team that made DMC1 the head developer of DMC1 didn't take part in it because he was developing RESIDENT EVIL 4 for the GC, I read in magazine back in 2003.
If you notice Capcom doesn't mention it at all they just say DMC1 & DMC3.
so is it necessary to play this game if i wanna know whats going on in DMC4?Zero5000X
no, IT goes like this:
DMC3
DMC1
DMC4
DMC2: I Don't think it will make sense unless in DMC4 they explain something about it, but I think Capcom is trying to make people forget about it as I said they don't mention it at all only 1&3.
the storyline in DMC2 feels too simply , empty and undevelopedthat i don't think it's gonnahave any mentioning on later games .
Some of the scenarioslook totally uninspired, the enemies are kind of stupidbut theyhave a long life bar andyour ressistance against their attacks isquite good too .
Tough Dante'smoves and weapons really look cool and Trish's too - secret character sorry if i spoiled you the surpise but it gives a good replay-value - the games seems kind of unfinished and only if you are a bit of a fan you're gonna like some parts of it .
