Why was the start of Kingdom Hearts 2 so boring and take 4 hours?

I nearly gave up, god, it was like watching paint dry. The third one better not be like this, ill kill myself :P. And also, (while I'm ranting), does the use of final characters whichcauses recurring problems (i.e Cloud and Aeirs) bother any one else? It's really annoying me and the fact that Chicken Little sucks so much doesn't help.

The starting was alright, it allowed you to just have a fun time doing some small jobs and what not.

I think the people that liked the opening, like myself, are in the minority here, considering how much I hear people voicing their distaste for the beginning three hours of the game. Sure, it was slow at moments, but I felt that it picked up by Day 3 when Roxas goes to fight the first boss, and I was interested in the story and wanted to see what would happen. The moments with Axel and the end part of the prologue easily became one of my favorite moments in the game, and I set seperate save files just for the beginning.

I can understand if people didn't care for the story and just wanted to smack things up with the keyblade, then yes, the game would probably be quite boring at the beginning.
