First let me say that I am perfectly content with my PS2 and in my opinion it is the greatest system yet. I am , however, worried that developers will say they are releasing games on PS2 when in fact they are practically making a big demo of a new-gen system on PS2. So far this has not happened yet, but I am afraid that with games like Rock Band, Tony Hawk's Proving Ground, and even the Simpsons Game being available on several system old and new, that the developers will start to care less and less about making the PS2 versions of the game as good as the new-gen systems. The good thing however is that the PS2 (maybe all the way through the new-gen) will get Wii-Moteless versions of 3rd party Wii games (i.e. DBZ: Budokai Tenkaichi 3). I can only hope this continues to happen, even with games like Soul Calibur: Legends.

The good thing is we (the poor boys who can't afford the fany-pants HD systems) can always play the best games from the past years and we can hope that the 3rd party games go like this: New-gen systems get an upgrade of the PS2/Wii version as apposed to the PS2/Wii getting a down-graded version.

The bad thing it almostall good things end eventually and eventually we will have to move on. The biggest thing is that the PS2 continues to have good games until we (the less privilaged gamers) can afford to move on.

Well?

There are still plenty of titles slated to come out over this year. No need for worrying about that.

But even if not one new game came out, there is plenty to keep you busy with a ps2 for a very, very, very long time. You dont have to play brand new games just because there are new games out. I still play ps1 and snes and genesis and neo geo stuff. And pc stuff also. There is no need to rush to a new console until you are ready.

Very true, but I'm one of those people who feel they are missing out unless they have the newest stuff, even though I know it's not true.

It's inevitable really. As long as money can be made producing games for the PS2, companies will. But let's be honest, next-gen systems will establish themselves more in homes and companies will move towards those systems to make the most profit. New Technologies= Higher asking price. As the shift happens towards the next-gen the previous gens will become more and more "budget, until it is not even justifiable for a company to produce for it. Notmaking crazyprofit makes companies move on. The PS2 library is solid. Plenty for all tastes ( a little shy on the shmups though...) and a hefty collection of GREAT games can be built from past releases. I am happy with the PS2 and will Game-On indefinitely with it. Alas...I too will make the shift when prices drop, but that doesn't devalue the former gen in anyway. It just makes it more golden to me.

It really dosent matter to me. I mean everybody's left the xbox for dead but I can walk into a gamestop and pick up a game that Ive never played before for 10 bucks every week. Same thing with the PS2 when everybody leaves it for dead I'll start picking up games Ive never played before for a good price.

they are still making tons and tons of PS2 games and maybe in four-five years you will start to see a sharp decline in PS2 "new releases" till then the PS2 is one of the strongest and longest running systems that still continues to deliver great graphics, gameplay and tons of fun!

Don't expect too much. But there are still so many great games for that console that future releases doesn't really matter. I packed my ps2 away not too long ago after finishing Ico, which will probably be the last ps2 game for me.

I love my Ps2 and yeah, it's hard to not worry about how the nex gen consoles will kick the poor guy out of the market. I don't even plan on purchasing the ps3 until the price sinks for a couple of times... which, I believe, will take a LOOOOONG while.

The good thing about the ps2 is the PS3 is compatible with most ps2 games unlike the other system. Over time the ps2 will be phased out and thats just the way it is with new technology, but the fact the ps3 can still play ps2 games should keep games coming for awhile. If I remember correctly, the ps1 still had games up to a few years ago(again I do not remember the actually year but i would say around 2000 maybe). I don't think there is anything to worry aboutat leastfor the next 3 years or so or maybe even longer.

I am glad that there are people that still see a great fight inside the PS2, honestly I never owned a PS2, but I am planning on buying a new one, why is that? I love the PS2, you can say I am a fan boy but who cares, we all are, I am not planning on purchasing new consoles just to be part of the trend.

The point is I still play with my PSX and loving it, it think developers should still release good games on some old consoles and not do exclusive games for next gen consoles, I dont want to think that the PS2 is a dying console, no, no, no, I know that this console can still stand and put up a fight.

while I'm upset that some major games won't be on ps2 (KHIII, and FFXIII) I can't say I"m to upset or worried. I made sure my library grew exponentially so that I woudln't run out of games to play until ps3 is cheaper and the good games are released for it.
