I just got my PS2 about 3 weeks ago and ive recently been looking for a copy for Guilty Gear X2. I finally found one used at Blockbuster and its in terrible condition, with scratches and spots all over it, but it still works. My question is, would a scratched disc mess up my PS2, for example, ruining the disc laser? Thanks guys.

I have run many ridiculously scratched discs in my PS2 and it has never seemed to harm it at all.

You should be fine.

It shouldn't be a problem, I would get a CD cleaning kit If I were you though.

No. But it does stress the laser a bit.

At the most, the PS2 may work a bit harder, but, even then, we're not talking about anything damaging to the console. Like the others mentioned, a cleaning kit would definitely be a good thing.

It's also a weird thing, that I see in life. People who take care of things VERY well usually have bad luck and it gets broken, whereas you see someone not caring much and their things seem to last forever as if they were in perfect conditions. T_T

ontopic:  I doubt it ruins the lens, but you can never be too careful when it comes to your PS2. It's too pretty to get broken. :[
