• Price: PS Vita is priced exactly the same as the PSP's launch price ($249), albeit this is the barebones PS Vita, but it still is no joke when it comes to the value you're getting for what you're paying for. It has double the features that the PSP had, if not more. The competitors in the market launched their system with the same price as the PS Vita but with much less features, not to mention the hardware capability that the PS Vita has over its rivals. There will be a $299 dollar PS Vita which has 3g capabilities so that you'll be able to play online or download stuff anywhere! Simply put the PS Vita is a steal at this price. • Hardware Prowess: The PS Vita flaunts a beautiful quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 MPCore processor; this is a very fast CPU especially considering this is a handheld system and not a computer. In terms of the graphics, it makes use of an SGX543MP4 +GPU, from what everyone has seen, this system exhibits PS3-like graphics which is no laughing matter. The PS Vita proves it's a juggernaut that's a force to be reckoned with. • Dual Analog Sticks: Have you ever imagined playing handheld games with a PlayStation controller? Guess what, you can do just that with the PS Vita. Spawning dual analog sticks, 4 directional arrows, 4 face buttons, the L and R buttons, etc. It's virtually the Playstation Controller that we all know and love, but with a 5 inch screen attached to it! The dual analog sticks are especially important for First Person Shooter and Third Person Shooter games. Finally you can aim much more comfortably by using the new right stick; this alone is the deal-maker for many people. • Hybrid of Combinations: The capability of playing ps3 games on the PS Vita via Remote-Play. Any Playstation 3 owner who owns a PS Vita can play his PS3 games on the PS Vita itself! I know this might sound crazy, but it's actually true. The PS Vita basically becomes the TV and the PS3; this means you can play your PS3 games on-the-go, anywhere at any time, whilst using the PSP controls. No one can say they don't have a library of games on the PS Vita when their PS3 library becomes playable on their PS Vita. • Cross-Platform Gaming: Owners of the PS Vita can enjoy gaming with their fellow PS3 friends, by using the Cross-Platform Play feature. Since it can play PS3 games, PS Vita users can join games with people who are playing on their PS3s at home, while Vita owners can be anywhere, be it at home or at a mall etc. Gone are the days where you had to be at home to play people who are using the same home-console that you're using. • Dual Cameras: The PS Vita boasts a front camera and a rear camera. Can you even begin to imagine the possibilities that this can do for this glorious handheld system? We've all seen how the EyeToy works and what it can do, it forced many competitors to jump on the bandwagon and make similar ideas, all those ideas were derived from the EyeToy on the PS2 which started it all. Not only would it create many gaming possibilities, but it can even be used simply as a camera to save those great memories of the great gaming sessions with your friends. • Touchscreen: When technology these days is leaning towards using touchscreens, the PS Vita doesn't disappoint in that aspect. Myself and many others have become used to using touchscreens, so this is a greatly welcomed addition to the PS Vita's features. Navigating through the menus should be as smooth as butter and more convenient than it ever was. The PS Vita once again takes advantage of a feature and makes it much more interesting, it will have a Multi-Touch feature, you and anyone else can both be touching the screen at the same time and it will recognize each individual's action. As seen in the LittleBigPlanet trailer that's coming for the Vita, two people were playing a pong game on the same Vita. In Uncharted: Golden Abyss, tossing grenades has never been easier, just by moving your finger on the screen itself you can choose where the grenade would land, thus creating an easier yet fun way of using grenades. • Rear-Touch Pad: I never would have thought of something crazy yet at the same time ingeniously thought out. After seeing how this was being used in games such as LittleBigPlanet, it gives you the capability of pushing objects in the background into the foreground, thus creating different kinds of solutions to puzzles and possibilities. Little Deviants will be the first launch game on the PS Vita and it already looks simply astonishing. It uses every feature on the Vita and that's a great way to show-off its capabilities. The Rear-Touch pad is used to direct a ball from one point to another and by pressing on the Rear-Touch pad you can create small mountains from the ground that will push the ball until you reach the goal. Innovation at its finest, truly remarkable and unique. • OLED Screen: Ever wished for your handheld system to have the capability of blocking the annoying sun glares? Wish granted. The PS Vita will use an OLED screen which not only blocks the sun's glare, but it also provides crystal clear gaming resolutions! I mean an LED screen would have been enough, but Sony went with an Organic Light-Emitting Diode (OLED). What more can you ask for?! • SIXAXIS: The PS3 feature that was a major-selling point for many people makes its return on to the PS Vita. It's like the features it hails aren't enough. Driving games are going to be fun, the Vita will feel as if it's the steering wheel of the car, and immersion shall take over. Obviously whenever a player feels like they want to use the traditional Analog stick to drive they can, trust me though, some games are actually more fun by a ton when used with the SIXAXIS motion technology. Hopefully I didn't bore you with my reasons, looking oh-so much to your vital feedback :D! /WormioBH

Just for fun, here's 10 reasons why not to buy one right away:

1. The 32 gib memory cards are expensive. Sony is clearly ripping you off, why support that practice. If you think a 4 gig will do, you're fooling yourself.

2. The PSP crashed and burned, what's to say the PSP won't do the same.

3. The unit isn't being released in North America until after Christmas, a time when most people are going to be broke, just wait and the price will drop. Look at what happened to the 3DS.

4. What's the battery life? Odds are it will get improved in a model update, just be patient.

5. Sony restricted your ability to put downloads on 2 portables. You'll have to give up your PSP or PSP Go or switch back and forth, how annoying. Here's an opportunity to tell them what you think of them limiting you from the previous 5.

6. Really, what games are you going to play on it right away? Uncharted and Angry Birds?

7. Wait to see what Microsoft will be putting out - I bet they're working on some Zune game thing as we speak.

8. You already play games on your phone, just how many damn mobile gaming devices do you need.

9. I heard it'll give you super herpes.

10. You could save the money and spend it something better, like the new PS4 and Xbox that are bound to be released soon.

Ill only bother with the ones worth my time.

Cards are expensive but those are Japanese Prices, Plus their will most likely be SD card adapters for the Vita

PsP didnt crash and burn, there were alot of great games on the PsP, if sales determined how good a game/console is then my god Wii Sports is the best game ever....

Vita being released after Christmas doesnt effect me as im sure many others who even with a tiny bit of willpower could save some money for it for after christmas, were not 12 year olds.

Battery life yes can be a small complaint, its supposed to be as much as the 3DS, however im sure third parties will bring out better batteries for it which would fix that problem.

The 2 systems on one account is the only small problem, most likely people will give up their PsP if their getting a Vita anyway, IF they have another system like a PS3 taking up that second account.

There are many great titles and many on the way for me to play, it has a better lineup then the 3DS, currently all my friend does is play the GBA games that he got for free on his.

Mobile games are a time killer, nothing more, if all we had were mobile games I would kill myself (Joke).

Microsoft ? they have their windows phone, Microsoft has said many times they dont want to bother getting into the portable gaming scene.

Most people dont want a new Home Console, I sure as hell dont want to fork out who knows what amount for a new console, the jump from this gen to the next wont be as big as last gens to this one, im fine with what i have at the moment.

I'll be waiting a while before I get mine. I still have quite a few PSP games left to complete and if I buy a Vita I'll just end up ignoring my PSP and therefore have wasted money on PSP games that I've barely played. Once I've beaten all of my PSP games I'll look into it. (I need something to play at work when the boss isn't around :P )

It's looking amazing.. I'm pretty sure you'll still end up getting it. To be honest I didn't expect it to come with all these features, I also think the price is very justified. It's kind of a PS3 in your pocket, that isn't something anyone can laugh at, trust me.

Just curious, do you work for Sony?

Your original post seemed to go beyond the regular fanboy stuff and since you have no previous posts, the original post looks like something a PR bot would rattle off.

I'll eventually buy the Vita because I want to have a handheld device with dual analog sticks.

The two touchscreens are just Sony's way of trying to catch up with Apple. The touchscreens are a solution in search of a problem.

For me, the PSP and the Vita are the only portable gaming devices that can deliver a hardcore gaming experience.

The other stuff will continue to be mediocre and crappy: music playback, video playback, podcasts, etc.

[QUOTE="digimonkey12"]And who do you work for ? with your "oh so fun" 10 reasons.d_parker

Not any company with an agenda to sell Vitas or any other system.

Jesus. Is this the gaming ad hominem? Users working for video game companies? :|

Even if it's true, I'd like to see them debunked before anything.

Oh well:

10. You could save the money and spend it something better, like the new PS4 and Xbox that are bound to be released soon.

d_parker

1. It's priced same as it ever was... people didn't complain then. Besides, I've no idea, but I reeeally doubt they'll make the memory cards one-party. You could replace the PS3's HDD with a third-party and it won't void the warranty, you could buy a normal non-Sony SD card and use it for the PSP. I don't see why the Vita will be anything different.

2. Speak for yourself? :? I've been an owner since 2008 and it supplied me with games and entertainment non-stop ever since.

3. I'm not American, so Christmas sales don't affect me. I've no idea what the situation is in there so I can't respond to this point.

4. Odds are anything can be improved in an updated model. Kinda like how I bought the 80GB fat PS3 in 2007, and the 320GB slim came out in 2010. Personally, I do not wait that long hoping for improvement, but to each his own.

5. Makes sense to avoid game sharing. Does the Xbox allow all your friends logging in on your account from their consoles to re-download a game on their system? If so, how many? Because the PS3 allows upto five consoles. It's not a problem, pick your games and where to play them a little more wisely is all.

6. I hope to God you are joking. Considering that the NA/EU versions haven't been released yet, I'll assume you're talking about the Japanese one. So how about:

- Disgaea 3

- Blazblue

- Shinoblade

- Marvel vs Capcom 3

- UNCHARTED

Plus many more such as Ridge Racer, Everbody's Golf, Formula 1, Little Deviants, Dream Club Zero, etc + what will be released after launch!

7. WTF... the Vita is a handheld that competes with the 3DS. You honestly think it's fighting M$'s Zune?

8. It's not a phone, it's a gaming handheld man...

9. Now you're just trolling.

10. PS4 will take a while, it's M$ that is merely rumoredto be trying to rush the 720 in an unconfirmed date in 2013.

You're talking to a longtime DS fan who once he got a PSP, he never looked back (I also have a PS3 by the way, and was a PC gamer for a long time). My main reason for not getting one at launch comes down to this: I already have the Games I like on the PSP and don't see anything yet that makes me want the Vita (though this may change as time goes on). Though this is a PSP/Vita forum, I remember very well the launch of the 3DS (one of the worst lineups I can remember). I remember the launch of the PS1 that wowed everyone. Now it's all about the hardware and what it can do. Remember that a platform is only as good as the games put out for it. An article said it best: "Remember that you don't owe Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo anything. They should be earning your business by putting out things you want to play."

... What are you saying? Speculation about remote play playing every PS3 game is just that: speculation. Sony has denied this, saying that Remote play compatibility will still be dependant on the game, not the system. So we will see new games that will implement Vita remote play, and possibly some old games updated to work with Remote Play, but by no means can we play every PS3 game on the Vita. Still, it is exciting news. Supposedly, Killzone 3 will work on the Vita's remote play.

Agree with most of them except the touchscreen. It seems tacked on in UC like the SIXAXIS when the PS3 came out.

3. The unit isn't being released in North America until after Christmas, a time when most people are going to be broke, just wait and the price will drop. Look at what happened to the 3DS.

9. I heard it'll give you super herpes.

thats the most ridiculis list iv'e seen...tell me when will there be a ps4 when the ps3 is dng fine thats far from being made, and the xbox if they do make one but it will be unhackable i doubt it will sell. what the hell with point 9 makes no damn sense

/WormioBH

Most of the reasons you are buying into is a gamble. In my opinion, it is too early to buy a VITA with the least software amongst it's competitors both direct and direct. Software is the lifeblood of these devices and currently, I don't see enough variety nor strong attachment to it's software (both at launch and it's less than 1st year life span). ATM, I do not see it's worth for the majority of consumers especially for the asking price because I do not believe they'd just buy into just hardware. Now I know many would say, "give it time". And so I will. By that logic I may as well wait for the gen2/3 VITA (ala PSP 2000, 3000). I can see VITA's future grim unless Sony's marketing improve more and rise up against the software available on somewhat similar platforms. I currently do NOT want to buy a device with an angle of just more promises and possibilities. I want something more clear and probable. I do not resent Sony nor VITA atm.. I actually want it to succeed.. But realistically speaking, I think there's so much VITA has to face.

Sorry to double post, but the edit in this forum seem very finicky.

May I add these:

Only when Sony announces that they have met the sales projection/target of both hardware and software internationally.. I cannot really tell of it's success nor failure.

Again, I am not yet ready to buy a device with the least software library and the strongest hardware in its class that seemingly provides "wishes and promises" only.

[QUOTE="Granpire"]I don't think what you said about remote play has been confirmed...Granpire

Very interesting chap....very interesting

Yes, it is all very interesting indeed.
