Sure it is, if you're unemployed.

I've always wondered how the hell people find all collectibles in some games on their own so quick. Even when using a guide, I still manage to have a hard time sometimes. So sure, it's possible, but insane, depending on the game of course.

It's possible for pretty much any game. But the amount of effort required... that depends on the game.

It's possible since someone obviously had to figure it out to give everyone else the information, but the sheer amount of time it would take is just something most people aren't willing to put in, myself included. I am a bit of a completionist so I always try and do as much as possible in every game and I try and do a majority of things on my own, but when it gets down to the last things I need for that 100% i find myself referring to guides because if I still haven't already found something through the first 80-100+ hours of play, I'm probably still not going to find it if I keep playing on my own :P Shames me to admit it since one of the best parts of any RPG adventure is exploring and doing things on your own, but I would never have 100% on probably any game without at least a little bit of help.

Games like Tales of, Star Ocean and GTA IV takes awaful lot of time to complete everything.

But games like Mass Effect or EA games uses the waypoints etc.

I guess it's possible but to sink in 500 hours in one game?

Depends on how you like to take time with the game. For me, it's hard sometimes I like to explore the world or area by myself. Or talk lot to NPCs, they usually give hints. It takes lot of time to do that.

me too lol XD Every game can be played without a guide, but like one user said up above, games like GTA4 and countless others will take ages to complete. With the guide, you just go in the direction the guide tells you too, without it, you will most likely go in every direction and still never find it. My GTA SA, i actually had to use the online guide to find 2 cars for the autoworks to get 100%, sadly, i've never been able to find those 2 cars 8-9 years later lol :/.

I often wonder when these walk-throughs and guides pop up so quickly after a new game releases if the author doesn't have some deeper ties to the game versus some kid walking in and buying it off the street with the same intention.
