i am having a hard time trying to find a 120 or 160 GB HDD with the exact measure ments that says on the PS3 safty and suport manual for my PS3. Can any one help plz. thanks

Generally, and remeber I am saying generally, I steer extremely far away from Maxtor and Western Digitial. Maxtor makes good system drives, but for external and an additional drive, well, let's say I've had 3 crash on me. I steer towards Seagate and Hitachi. That is my opinion on hard drives.

i second that opinion on reliable manufacturers except that I have no problems with Western Digital. I've had a refurbished WD for over 2 years now with no problems.

Usually higher rpm means more heat. But I don't know and I'd like to see some tests about that too.
Also, i'd like to know if higher rpm, bigger drive Cache or faster SDD drives reduce the loading time.
5400 RPM amd 7200 RPM notebook drives use roughly the same power and produce the same amount of heat. 7200 RPM drives are only faster at loading larger files (like video files) which means if you are watching them there is little to no use getting a 7200 RPM drive. Cache doesn't matter either anymore since all decent drives come with at least 8MB cache.
So I guess what I am saying is for a PS3 a larger (as in total storage) 5400 RPM drive is better value than the smaller 7200 RPM drives. If we were talking about a notebook that you used for video editing (etc) the answer would be completely different.

I've actually had good luck with Maxtor over the past 5 or so years.. never had one crap out. KNOCK ON WOOD!
