or is there no new model anytime soon? I admit I'll miss my 60 GB with its full backward compatibility and 4 USB ports as well as the SD card slots. So the question is to get the 160 GB or even just the 80? or is there any word on a new model coming soon? just want some idea before i replace my old 60 GB.

Thanks

why would you replace your 60gb? IMO it's the best model. too bad mine broke recently, i hope sony can just fix it and not have to replace it with a crappy 160gb without backwards compatibility and everything.

why do you want to replace it? im thinking it's broken. get the 160G with uncharted, don't wait for a newer model.

I hated to sell it but I had to for financial issues but with plans to buy another later on so i was wondering if a newer model would be coming or not, and I know i can buy 60GB on ebay but a new one is too expensive and I prefer to have new hardware when i buy it. So now i'm wondering which model is the best option that is available or coming up.

TBH if i were you, for sure ill buy the 80gb model, you can upgrade the HDD later with bigger ones from $100, also you can rent uncharted, buy it used or find a nice deal. like i said, if i were, just my 2 cents

I'll probably do that, go with the 80gb unless the ebay prices for a new 60gb go down, but as of now gonna take at least 900 bucks to get a new one and I dont find it all worth that. I had uncharted before to so I'm not worried about that game but I did keep my Metal Gear solid 4 Collection Edition since i never got the chance to finish it.

it does play PSone games though right? I can always pick up a PS2 slim pretty cheap these days so i'm not too worried bout that, but I do hate the newer models dont have the SD card slots and short 2 USB ports.

Thats a good point, I guess the 80 gb gets the job done with what matters the most, PS3 games and blu-ray movies. Guess by the time I can buy it and no new model has been announced i'll go ahead with the 80gb model.

What he said. 80GB is enough to hold you over for a LOOONG time. Right now you can get a 320GB drive for under $100 and prices are steadily dropping.

Yeah I agree 80 gb will hold me, i had the 60 and had tons of music, demos, music, pictures and still had plenty of space on my HDD.

If I were you I wouldn't sell my 60GB. Trust me sony discontinued the best ones that used to be on the market like the 80 gb used to do every thing the 60gb does. and now it doesnt even do every thing like the 60gb does. the 160GB is the same way as the new 80gb. If you have PS3, PS2, and PS1 games then i'd say keep your 60gb. The new ps3s does not even have backwards compatibilty. But it is your choice though and that is my opinion. Although you can find a 80gb that does do every thing that the 60GB does on ebay it isn't going to be easy though. And the 60GB is HARD to find. Those 60gb are rare. Do you have any ps2 and ps1 games? Because if you do you can either A: look on a website and try to find a 80GB that does every thing the 60Gb does B: or just keep your old ps3. It's your choice though.

Best models out were the 60GB with full B.C.

Sure this 160Gb is best model on shelves at moment, but only cos of the large hard drive.I dont know about you?-but i've never yet completely filled my 60GB HD,and if it does get near to full, all i gotta do is delete the old stuff i dont need or want anymore.
