160GB PS3 slim question

I just bought a 160gb slim, and it's telling me I've only got 130GB out of 149GB. What's up with that?! I understand a hard drive is never quite as big as listed

and that the PS3 uses space for the operating system, but 30GB off!, That's a lot!

Is it used? It might have games or firmware installed.
